Albert Jensen (anarchist)
Albert Jensen (25 December 1847 – 26 June 1913) was a Danish architect. He collaborated with Ferdinand Meldahl on several projects, including the completion of Marble Church in Copenhagen and Charlottenborg Exhibition Hall. He also designed the Magasin du Nord department store on Kongens Nytorv. Early life and education Albert Jensen was born in 1847, the son of merchant Anders Jensen and Anne née Jørgensen. After his confirmation, he was sent to Copenhagen where he graduated from the Technical Institute in 1863. He was accepted into the Architecture School of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in October 1864 from where he graduated in 1879. He won the Academy's small gold medal in 1874 and its large gold medal in 1876. The latter was accompanied by a travel scholarship which sent him abroad for two and a half years. Nykøbing Falster
Nykøbing Falster (; originally named Nykøbing) is a southern Danish city, seat of the Guldborgsund ''kommune''. It belongs to Region Sjælland. The city lies on Falster, connected by the Frederick IX Bridge over the Guldborgsund (''Guldborg Strait'') waterway to the island of Lolland. The town has a population of 16,911 (1 January 2022). Charlottenlund
Charlottenlund is a suburban area on the coast north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the administrative seat of Gentofte Municipality. Westend is a street and Art Deco-style housing complex in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It links Vesterbrogade in the north with Mathæusgade and Otto Krabbes Plads in the south. It is accessed through a gateway in the building at Vesterbrogade 65–78 and is closed to car traffic in the other end. Vesterbrogade
Vesterbrogade () is the main shopping street of the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. The 1.5 km long street runs from the City Hall Square in the east to Pile Allé in Frederiksberg in the west where it turns into Roskildevej. On its way, it passes Copenhagen Central Station as well as the small triangular square Vesterbros Torv. It is one of four such ''-bro streets'', the other being Nørrebrogade, Østerbrogade and Amagerbrogade. The road passed Sankt Jørgens Bæk (St. George's Stream) on its way to Valby and often changed course. Nordre Toldbod
Nordre Toldbod is a waterfront area in Copenhagen, Denmark, located at the north end of Larsens Plads and just south of Kastellet. It takes its name after the custom house or ''toldbod'' which used to be located in the area. Most of the historic buildings in the area were torn down in 1973 when the site was redeveloped but its central waterfront space has remained intact and features a number of structures which bear testament to its former use. Among the modern buildings in the area are the headquarters of Mærsk and the Danish Energy Agency. The area is adjacent to Churchill and Langelinie Parks. Kvæsthusgade
Kvæsthusgade is a short street in the Nyhavn Quarter of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from the mouth of the Nyhavn canal in the south to Ofelia Plads in the north. The rear side of the Royal Danish Playhouse dominates the east side of the street. The Zinn House at No. 3 and the neighbouring building at No. 5 are both listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places. History The street takes its name after the Kvæsthus, a military hospital, which relocated to the site in 1680. It is known that a hospital for boatsmen was founded in 1618 and it was then most likely situated at the Church of Holmen. It was moved to Gothersgade in 1628 and again in 1658 to Sejlhuset at Bremerholm. In 1668, the hospital moved to Børnehuset in Christianshavn and in 1675 to Guldhuset in Rigensgade. DFDS is a Danish international shipping and logistics company. It is the busiest shipping company of its kind in Northern Europe and one of the busiest in Europe. Sankt Annæ Plads
Sankt Annæ Plads (English: St. Ann's Square) is a public square which marks the border between the Nyhavn area and Frederiksstaden neighborhoods of central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a long narrow rectangle which extends inland from the waterfront, at a point just north of the Royal Danish Playhouse at the base of the Kvæsthus Pier, now known as Ofelia Plads, until it meets Bredgade. A major renovation of the square was completed in 2016.The Garrison Church is located on the south side of the square.
