Albert G. Egbert
Albert Gallatin Egbert (April 13, 1828 – March 28, 1896) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Biography Albert G. Egbert was born near Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools and Grand River Institute in Austinburg, Ohio. He graduated from the medical department of the Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1856 and then practiced medicine in Clintonville, Pennsylvania. He moved to Cherrytree, Pennsylvania, and practiced his profession until 1861, when he retired in order to devote his entire time to the production of oil and agricultural pursuits. During the American Civil War, he served as a volunteer surgeon. Egbert was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress. He served as chairman of the United States House Committee on Mileage during this Congress. He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1876. The United States House Committee on Mileage is a former standing committee of the United States House of Representatives. The jurisdiction of the committee is described in Rule XI: "The ascertaining of the travel of Members of the House shall be made by the Committee on Mileage and reported to the Sergeant at Arms Sergeant (abbreviated to Sgt. and capitalized when used as a named person's title) is a rank in many uniformed organizations, principally military and policing forces. The committee was an outgrowth of the Committee on Accounts which originally was charged with the audit of Members' mileage. In 1927 the Committee on Mileage was discontinued and these duties were returned to the Accounts Committee. Lemuel Todd
Lemuel Todd (July 29, 1817 – May 12, 1891) was an American politician who served as an Oppositionist member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 16th congressional district from 1855 to 1857 and as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's at-large congressional district from 1873 to 1875. He was an officer in the Pennsylvania Reserves infantry division of the Union Army in the U.S. Civil War and served in multiple battles. Early life and education Lemuel Todd was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle in 1839. After graduation, he studied law in the offices of General Samuel Alexander. Todd was admitted to the Cumberland County bar in 1841 and began his law practice in Carlisle.
