Albert Eugene Whitmore
Albert Eugene Whitmore (May 7, 1876 – January 8, 1949) was a merchant, rancher and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Milestone in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1908 to 1912 as a Provincial Rights Party member. He was born in Dunnville, Ontario, the son of John Albert Whitemore, and was educated in Regina, Saskatchewan and at Upper Canada College in Toronto. Whitmore came to Regina with his family in 1880. His father served as postmaster for Regina until his death in 1904. Whitmore ranched near Yellowgrass from 1898 to 1903. In 1901, with his brothers, he established Whitmore Bros. Ltd., which operated a steam laundry and a pharmacy in Regina and were coal merchants, as well as being involved in other areas of business. In 1906, he married Florence Helen Marsh. Milestone (electoral District)
Milestone is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, south of Regina. Originally named "South Regina", this constituency was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905; although a riding of that name had been contested in the North-West Territories since 1888. It was dissolved and merged with the Bengough district (as Bengough-Milestone) and parts of Thunder Creek and Qu'Appelle before the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975. It is now part of the constituency of Indian Head-Milestone. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Provincial Rights Party
The Provincial Rights Party was a Canadian political party founded and led by Frederick W. A. G. Haultain in 1905 to contest elections in the new province of Saskatchewan. It was the successor to the eastern branch of the Northwest Territories Conservative Party. Haultain had been Premier of the North-West Territories prior to the province's creation. He hoped to lead a government in the place of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party, which was backed by the federal government of Wilfrid Laurier. In the 1905 election, the Provincial Rights Party won nine seats and 47% of the vote, and the Liberals won 16 seats and 52% of the vote. In the 1908 election, to an expanded 41 seat legislature, the Provincial Rights Party won 14 seats with 47% of the vote, losing again to the Liberals. Dunnville is an unincorporated community located near the mouth of the Grand River in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada near the historic Talbot Trail. It was formerly an incorporated town encompassing the surrounding area with a total population of 12,000. History Dunnville was the site of a Cayuga settlement called ''Detgahnegaha'gó:wah''. Yellow Grass is a town in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. It is located in the Rural Municipality of Scott No. 98, approximately 25 km northwest of Weyburn, at the junction of provincial Highway 39 and 621. The town is located on the Canadian Pacific Railway Soo Line, at an elevation of above sea level.
