Albert Collett
Albert Peter Severin Collett (15 September 1842 – 25 June 1896) was a Norwegian businessman, timber merchant and sawmill owner. He founded Firma Albert Collett and became one of the largest landowners in the valley of Namdalen in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. Collett was born at Buskerud Manor at Åmot in Modum, Norway. He was the youngest son of landowner John Collett (1807–1891), grandson of judge Peter Collett and grandnephew of Christian Ancher Collett. He was also the father of chemist and industrialist Emil Collett and physician Arthur Collett. He was originally a clerk in Christiania Bank og Kreditkasse. He is most associated with his take over the Salsbruket Agricultural Stakeholder Society (''Salsbrukets Interessentselskab'') at Nærøy in Nord-Trøndelag. Kolvereid (municipality)
Kolvereid is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the central part of what is now the municipality of Nærøysund in Trøndelag county. The municipality included both sides of the central part of the Folda fjord. The administrative centre was the village of Kolvereid where the Kolvereid Church is located. History The municipality of Kolvereid was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). In 1860, the northern islands and coastal area of Kolvereid (population: 1,702) was separated to become the new municipality of Leka. Then on 1 October 1886, the northeastern part of the municipality (population: 948) surrounding the innermost parts of the Foldafjord was separated to become the new municipality of Foldereid. Collett Family
Collett (also spelled Collet) is a Norwegian family of English origin, descended from English-born merchant James Collett (born 1655 in London, died 1727 in Christiania), who settled in Christiania in 1683. He married Karen Leuch, and died as the richest man in the city. The firm he founded, ''Collett & Leuch'', later renamed ''Collett & Søn'' (Collett & Son), was continued for four generations until 1821. Axel Collett
Axel Collett (6 August 1880 in Kolvereid – 17 January 1968) was a Norwegian landowner, timber merchant and sawmill owner. He was a co-owner and actively involved in the management of Firma Albert Collett, a firm established by his father, which was and is one of the largest private land owners of Norway. The company owned of land in Namdalen, and built Salsbruket Tresliperi, a sawmill, of which he also served as director. A member of the English-origined Collett family, he was the son of land-owner Albert Collett, the grandson of land-owner John Collett of Buskerud Manor and the great-grandson of Supreme Court Justice and land-owner Peter Collett. Oscar Collett
Oscar Collett (9 December 1877 – 1950) was a Norwegian landowner and benefactor. He was born in Trondhjem as a son of landowner Albert Peter Severin Collett (1842–1896) and Nanna Høegh (1854–1921). He was a brother of physician Arthur Collett and chemist Emil Collett. He was a forester by education, and spent his career as an executive of the family-owned forest estate company Firma Albert Collett together with his brothers Johan and Axel. The company still operates hundreds of square miles of forest in Namdalen, as well as several hydroelectric power stations. Collett became a member of the gentlemen's skiing club SK Fram in 1890, the club's second year of existence. From 1935 he served as a supervisory council member of the insurance company Forsikringsselskapet Viking, together with many acquaintances from Fram. Johan Collett (1874–1969)
Johan Collett (22 November 1874 – 2 June 1969) was a Norwegian businessperson. Personal life He was born in Trondhjem as a son of Albert Peter Severin Collett (1842–1896) and Nanna Høegh (1854–1921). He was a brother of physician Arthur Collett and chemist Emil Collett. He married three times. First to ship-owner's daughter Ellen Eger from 1903, but the marriage was dissolved. His second wife was director's daughter Kathleen Ragnhild Falsen, after dissolving this marriage as well he married Rosa Louise Martens in 1943. Falsen went on to marry Erling Steen. Career He graduated from Kristiania Commerce School in 1893, and took further commercial education in England and France. When his father died in 1896, at 22 years Johan Collett took over the estates Bangdalsbruket and Salsbruket. ''Merkantilt biografisk leksikon: hvem er hvem i næringslivet?'' ( en, Mercantile Biographical Encyclopedia: Who is Who in the Enterprise?) was a Norwegian-language encyclopedia published by Yrkesforlaget in 1935. It featured approximately 10,000 short biographical entries for Norwegian businesspeople, and was edited by Einar Hoffstad (1894–1959). It was printed by Grøndahl & Søns Boktrykkeri. The purpose of the encyclopedia was to "remedy the need to know something about the individuals one is trading with". The entries contain little genealogical information, and the parents of the portrayed businesspeople are not included. Abbreviations are used extensively to save space and money. The editor, Einar Hoffstad, stated in the foreword of the encyclopedia that it was not a parallel to the '' Who's Who'' reference works, although the title could imply that.
