Al Mirqab (Doha)
Al Mirqab ( ar, المرقاب; also referred to as Fereej Al Mirqab) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipalities of Qatar, municipality of Ad-Dawhah (municipality), Ad Dawhah. Together with As Salatah, it makes up Zone 18, Qatar, Zone 18 which has 692 people in it. Etymology An Arabic language, Arabic word, ''mirqab'' is derived from "muraqabah", which in English translates to "watching". This name was given in reference to a large hill in the area on which people would gather to spot ships out on sea. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. Since 2015, Qatar has been divided into eight municipalities. In 2004, a new municipality, Al Daayen, was created under Resolution No. 13, formed from parts of Umm Salal and Al Khawr; at the same time, Al Ghuwariyah was merged with Al Khawr; Al Jumaliyah was merged with Ar Rayyan; Jarayan al Batnah was split between Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah; and Mesaieed was merged with Al Wakrah. Ad-Dawhah (municipality)
Ad-Dawhah ( ar, الدوحة, ' or ''ad-Dōḥa'', ) is the one of the eight municipalities of Qatar. It is the most populous municipality with a population of 956,457, and is the municipality of Qatar's capital city, Doha. Etymology According to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the name "Doha" originated from the Arabic language, Arabic term "dohat", which means "roundness". This name is derived from the rounded bays surrounding the area's coastline. Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities of Qatar, municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. For instance, in the 2010 census, Zone 69 was transferred to Al Daayen Municipality, Zones 50 and 58 were added to Ad-Dawhah (municipality), Ad-Dawhah Municipality, and part of Zone 74 was merged with Zone 70 of Al Daayen Municipality. As Salatah
As Salatah ( ar, اسلطة; also known as Old Al Salata) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. It is primarily a commercial district and is situated near Hamad International Airport. In the 1970s, as part of a master plan for Doha prepared by Llewelyn Davies, the whole district was redeveloped in a push to modernize the cityscape. The Civil Aviation Authority and the National Museum of Qatar are located in the district. History The district was named after the Sulaiti tribe, who owned large plots of land in the area. Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani selected the area as the seat of government in the early 1900s due to its close proximity to the sea and ease of access for vessels. Al Souq (Doha)
Al Souq ( ar, السوق, As Sūq; also spelled As Sawq) is a commercial district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Doha. It was named for its high density of souqs (markets) in the southern section of the district. Abdullah bin Jassim Street services numerous government buildings and banks in the northern end of the district, including Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, Qatar Central Bank, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment. Doha Port
Doha Port ( ar, ميناء الدوحة, Mīnā’ ad Dawḩah) is a census-designated port district in Doha, the capital city of Qatar. Doha Port is centrally located in Doha, and is adjacent to some of the country's most popular tourist destinations such as Doha Corniche and Souq Waqif. Milaha Port Services gained control of the port in February 2011. Doha Metro
The Doha Metro is a rapid transit system in Doha, Qatar's capital city, which became operational on 8 May 2019. It has three lines with an approximate overall length of 76 km and 37 stations.
