Al-Shifa Ambulance Airstrike
On 3 November 2023, amid the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip and siege of Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike hit an ambulance convoy departing from al-Shifa Hospital carrying critically injured patients. The strike killed 15 people and wounded dozens, with the Palestine Red Crescent Society, which was part of the convoy, saying that all 15 casualties were civilians. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that it carried out the airstrike, and said that Hamas militants were killed in the attack. The IDF said that one of the ambulances was being used as a "Hamas terrorist cell" to transport personnel and weaponry. The Gaza Health Ministry denied any misuse of the ambulances. In October 2023, multiple attacks during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war hit Palestinians attempting to leave northern Gaza City and killing 70 people, mostly women and children. Al-Shifa Hospital Siege
Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical complex in Gaza Strip, Gaza, was sieged in mid-November 2023 during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war. On November 11, the hospital was completely encircled, cutting it off from the rest of Gaza City. The Rafah Border Crossing ( ar, معبر رفح, Ma`bar Rafaḥ) or Rafah Crossing Point is the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
