''Arab Times'' is the first English-language newspaper published in independent Kuwait. History The ''Arab Times'' was started in 1977 by Dar Al-Seyassah as a weekly publication, and was soon transferred into a daily newspaper, playing a remarkable role in Kuwait and the Persian Gulf area. Naji Al-Ali
Naji Salim Hussain al-Ali ( ar, ناجي سليم العلي '; born c. 1938 – 29 August 1987) was a Palestinian cartoonist, noted for the political criticism of the Arab regimes and Israel in his works. He has been described as the greatest Palestinian cartoonist and probably the best-known cartoonist in the Arab world. He is best known as the creator of the character Handala, pictured in his cartoons as a young witness of the satirized policy or event depicted, and who has since become an icon of Palestinian defiance. The Kuwaiti dinar ( ar, دينار كويتي, code: KWD) is the currency of Kuwait. It is sub-divided into 1,000 fils. As of 2022, the Kuwaiti dinar is the currency with the highest value per base unit, with KD 1 equalling US$3.32, ahead of the Bahraini dinar with BD 1 equalling US$2.65. History The dinar was introduced in 1961 to replace the Gulf rupee, equal to the Indian rupee. It was initially equivalent to £1 stg.
