Akhenaton (rapper)
Philippe Fragione (; born 17 September 1968), better known by his stage name Akhenaton, is a French rapper and hip hop producer. He has also worked under the aliases Chill, AKH, Sentenza and Spectre. He is best known as member of hip hop group IAM and has since made a number of records, both with IAM and as a solo artist. Akhenaton has worked as a producer, producing songs for several French rappers and groups such as Passi, Stomy Bugsy, Fonky Family, Freeman (a fellow member of IAM who has since made his break as a solo artist), La Brigade, Le 3ème Œil, etc. He is the creator of the record label Côté Obscur, the publishing house La Cosca and the vinyl record label 361. IAM (pronounced "I am") is a French hip hop group from Marseille. Formed in 1989, it comprises Akhenaton (AKH; Philippe Fragione), Shurik'n (Geoffroy Mussard), Khéops (Éric Mazel), Imhotep (Pascal Perez) and Kephren (François Mendy). IAM has several meanings, including ''Invasion Arrivée de Mars'' ("Invasion from Mars"; Mars is frequently used as a metaphor for Marseille in IAM songs). Another meaning is Imperial Asiatic Man, while AKH often refers to ''L'homme Impérial Asiatique''. Themes One of IAM's central themes in its songs is Africa. ''Revoir un Printemps'' is a studio album by French hip hop group IAM. It was released on 15 September 2003 through Hostile Records with distribution via EMI. Recording sessions took place at Studios Zgen in Avignon, at Studio La Cosca in Marseille, at Sony Music Studios and at Electric Lady Studios in New York, at Bulgarian National Radio Studio 1, and at Studio Claudia Sound in Aubervilliers. Production was handled by Akhenaton, Al-Khemya, Shurik'n, Imhotep, DJ Khéops and Bruno Coulais.
