Aivar Ojastu
Aivar Ojastu (born 21 September 1961) is an Estonian athletics competitor. He was born in Tartu. In 1999 he graduated from the University of Tartu The University of Tartu (UT; et, Tartu Ülikool; la, Universitas Tartuensis) is a university in the city of Tartu in Estonia. It is the national university of Estonia. It is the only classical university in the country, and also its biggest ...'s Institute of Physical Education. He began athletics training in 1969, coached by his mother, track and field athlete Linda Ojastu. Later his coach was Fred Kudu. His older sister is Paralympic track and field athlete Annely Ojastu. He won several medals at Soviet Union athletics championships. He is 24-time Estonian champion in different running disciplines. 1973–1993 he was a member of Estonian national athletics team, and 1990 a member of Soviet Union national athletics team. Tartu
Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after the Northern European country's political and financial capital, Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 91,407 (as of 2021). Linda Ojastu
Linda Ojastu (until 1960, Linda Kepp; 29 February 1936 – 26 September 2006) was an Estonian athletics competitor. She was born in Tartu. In 1958 she graduated from the University of Tartu's Institute of Physical Education. She started her athletics exercising in 1950, coached by Vilma Jürisma. Since 1954 her coach was Fred Kudu. In 1958 she won gold medal at European Athletics Championships being a member of Soviet Union 4 x 100 m relay team. She was multiple-times Estonian champion. 1957–1979 she worked as a coach at the sport club Tartu Kalev's athletics school. She was married to track and field athlete Eino Ojastu. Fred Kudu
Fred Kudu (4 January 1917 Pärnu – 29 September 1988 Tartu) was an Estonian track and field athlete, coach and sport pedagogue. In 1940 he graduated from the University of Tartu. In 1939 he was Estonian champion in long jump. 1941-1943 he participated in WW II, fighting in Red Army. He was one of the founder of the University of Tartu's Faculty of Physical Education ( et, Tartu Ülikooli kehakultuuriteaduskond). He was also one of the key persons to establish sport facilities, including Tartu University stadium, Kääriku Sports Centre. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education of the University of Tartu during various tenures: from 1944 until 1950, from 1952 until 1957, and form 1960 until 1965. He was Head of the Athletics Department from 1944 until 1950 and again, from 1951 until 1973. Annely Ojastu
Annely Ojastu (born 10 August 1960 in Tartu) is an Estonian Paralympic athlete. At the 1992 Barcelona Games, she won a silver medal in the Women's 100 m TS4 event. At the 1996 Atlanta Games, she won a gold medal in the Women's 100 m T42–46 event and two silver medals in the Women's 200 m T42–46 and Women's Long Jump F42–46 events.
