The Air New Zealand Shell Open was a golf tournament held in New Zealand between 1975 and 1994. The event was the New Zealand Airlines Classic in 1975 and 1976 and the New Zealand Airlines Open in 1977. The Grange hosted the first and final editions of the event but Titirangi hosted the event the most, 14 times between 1977 - 1991. Lucas John Kendall Parsons (born 4 October 1969) is an Australian former professional golfer. Parsons was born in Orange, New South Wales. As an amateur, he won both the Australian and New Zealand Amateur Championships in 1991. He turned professional the following year and joined the PGA Tour of Australasia. Parsons won seven tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia, including the New Zealand Open in 1995. He played one unsuccessful season on the United States-based PGA Tour in 1996. Jeff Woodland (born 28 February 1957) is an Australian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour of Australasia. Professional career Woodland joined the Ben Hogan Tour in 1991 and had a very successful rookie year, winning the Ben Hogan Dakota Dunes Open while recording nine top-10 finishes. Hale S. Irwin (born June 3, 1945) is an American professional golfer. He was one of the world's leading golfers from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. He is one of the few players in history to win three U.S. Opens, becoming the oldest ever U.S. Open champion in 1990 at the age of 45. Terry R. Gale (born 7 June 1946) is an Australian professional golfer. Professional career Gale had a successful amateur career before turning professional at a relatively advanced age in 1976. From the mid-1970s to the early 1990s he won regularly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Japan Golf Tour, and the Asia Golf Circuit. Don Bies
Don Bies (born December 10, 1937) is an American professional golfer who has won tournaments on the PGA Tour, the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the Champions Tour), and in the Pacific Northwest Section of the PGA of America. Born in Cottonwood, Idaho, Bies attended Ballard High School in Seattle, Washington, and turned pro in 1957. His only PGA Tour win came at the 1975 Sammy Davis Jr.-Greater Hartford Open. His best finish in a major was a T-5 at the 1968 U.S. Open that was played at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. Bies is a three-time winner of the Washington Open (stroke play) and a six-time winner of the Washington State Match Play Championship and has won a host of other events in the Pacific Northwest. He left the PGA Tour in 1980 in order to devote full-time to his restaurant he had opened just outside Seattle. Frank Ivan Joseph Nobilo (born on 14 May 1960) is a professional golfer from New Zealand. Nobilo had a successful playing career, winning 14 pro tournaments around the world. He was at his peak during the mid-1990s when he also produced strong finishes in all four major championships. Since his 2003 retirement, Nobilo has worked as a television announcer for golf events.
