Terry Gale
Terry R. Gale (born 7 June 1946) is an Australian professional golfer. Professional career Gale had a successful amateur career before turning professional at a relatively advanced age in 1976. From the mid-1970s to the early 1990s he won regularly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Japan Golf Tour, and the Asia Golf Circuit. Once he turned 50, he joined the European Seniors Tour, where he won seven tournaments. His best season on that tour was 2003, when he finished third on the Order of Merit. He also played on the Japanese Seniors Tour. Personal life Gale originally worked as a sheep farmer. Off the course, Gale was the second Chairman of the PGA Tour of Australasia. His son, Mark Gale was a professional Australian rules footballer. Gale was also a talented cricketer in his youth, representing his state on occasion, although never at First Class level. Yelbeni, Western Australia
Yelbeni is a small town 222 km east-northeast of Perth, Western Australia along the Nungarin-Wyalkatchem Road situated in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. At the , Yelbeni had a population of 118. The town was originally planned as a railway siding along the Dowerin to Merredin line. Land was set aside in 1910 and was surveyed and gazetted in 1912. The town was originally known as Yelbene but was changed before it was gazetted to reflect a more precise pronunciation. The word is Aboriginal in origin and is derived from the nearby Yelbene Well, but its meaning is unknown. The Yelbeni town hall was initially constructed by members of the community in 1913; it has timber frame and a corrugated iron exterior. Although it has had some extensions over the years, the original hall still stands, and is being assessed for entry into the State Register of Heritage Places. Western Australian Open
The Western Australian Open, also known as the WA Open, is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It had been a tour event every year since 2009 with the exception of 2019. History The first Western Australian Amateur Championship was held in 1911. This consisted of a 36-hole stroke-play qualification stage, played in a single day, followed by match-play to determine the champion. The leading four players in the stroke-play qualified in 1911, increasing to 8 in 1912. In 1913 the stroke-play stage was opened up to professionals, becoming the first Western Australian Open Championship. It was played at the Fremantle links on 28 August, nearly 30 players competing. Stewart Ginn
Stewart Ginn (born 2 June 1949) is an Australian professional golfer. Early life Ginn was born in Melbourne. He grew up behind the twelfth green of the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Early in his life "he used to caddy at Royal Melbourne." He then moved on to be a golf manager at the club. Professional career In the 1970s and 1980s he won several professional tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia and one on the European Tour, the 1974 Martini International. He also played regularly on the Asia Golf Circuit, winning three tournaments, and on the Japan Golf Tour, where he has one win. He won the inaugural PGA Tour of Australia Order of Merit in 1973. Ray Hore (born 9 June 1954) is an Australian professional golfer. Early life Hore is from Camden, New South Wales, a suburb of Sydney. As a youth he honed his skills at golf courses in Sydney. Golf career Hore first received media attention at the 1974 South Australian Open. In the second round, he broke the course record at Glenelg Golf Club with a 66 (−6). He received A$2,000 for breaking the course record and a case of the club's red wine. During the third round, played in "icy winds and rain," Hore came back to the field slightly with a 74 (+2). He was tied for the lead with David Galloway and Randall Vines at 215 (−1). In the final round, all 54-hole leaders played one-over-par golf on the front nine. All remained joint leaders. is a Japanese professional golfer. He was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2004. Career Aoki was born in Abiko, Chiba, Japan. He was introduced to golf while caddying at the Abiko Golf Club as a schoolboy. He turned professional in 1964.
