''Ahed's Knee'' ( he, הַבֶּרֶךְ, translit=Habereḵ, translation=The Knee) is a 2021 internationally co-produced drama film directed by Nadav Lapid. It was selected to compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes, the film shared the Jury Prize with ''Memoria'' by Apichatpong Weerasethakul. Nadav Lapid () is an Israeli screenwriter and film director. Film critics consider him to be among the most internationally acclaimed filmmakers from Israel. Biography Lapid was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to a family of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. He is the son of writer and film editor , he studied philosophy at Tel Aviv University, moving to Paris after his military service in the Israel Defense Forces. He returned to Israel to pursue a degree at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. Lapid is married to Naama Preis, an Israeli actress; they reside in Tel Aviv. Career Lapid's debut feature film ''Policeman'' won the Locarno Festival Special Jury Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2011. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Avshalom Pollak
Avshalom Pollak ( he, אבשלום פולק; born October 5, 1970) is an Israeli actor, director, choreographer and dance company artistic director. Early life and education Avshalom was born in Haifa, Israel. He was trained as a classical actor and graduated from the Nissan Nativ Drama School in Tel Aviv. After graduating, Avshalom was playing in a large number of films and television programs, as well as many theatrical plays. Among his leading roles were William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as Romeo; Casssio in Othello; Molière's Valere in The Miser; Chekhov's Tuzenbach in Three Sisters and more. 26th Busan International Film Festival
The 26th Busan International Film Festival opened on October 6 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea with South Korean film '' Heaven: To the Land of Happiness'' by Im Sang-soo. Park So-dam and Song Joong-ki hosted the opening of the festival, which was streamed live on YouTube. In 26th edition, 223 films from 70 countries were officially invited to the festival. 63 community service screenings were also part of the festival.
