Agua Prieta, Sonora
Agua Prieta (English: ''Dark Water'', Opata: ''Bachicuy'') is a town in Agua Prieta Municipality in the northeastern corner of the Mexican state of Sonora. It stands on the Mexico–U.S. border, adjacent to the town of Douglas, Arizona. The municipality covers an area of 3,631.65 km2 (1,402.2 sq mi). In the 2010 census the town had a population of 79,138 people, making it the seventh-largest community in the state, and a literacy rate of 96.3%. 89% of the homes in the city have electricity, 94% have running water, and 86% are connected to the sewer system. The city's most important economic activities, in descending order, are industry, commerce and farming. The city is the location of the CFE Agua Prieta power plant. Luis Rivera (athlete)
Luis Alberto Rivera Morales (born 21 June 1987, in Agua Prieta) is a Mexican long jumper. His personal best is 8.46 metres, achieved in July 2013. He attended Central Arizona College, where he learned English. After finishing his General Studies degree, he attended the University of Arizona, where he was named all-American in long jump. He finished his Bachelor in Science in Industrial Engineering. Currently, he is studying his PhD in Systems and Industrial Engineering. In 2013, Luis Rivera competed at the World University Games held in Kazan, Russia, where he jumped 8.46 meters to take the gold medal in a head-to-head battle with Russian national favorite Aleksandr Menkov, who finished 4 cm behind. Los Apson
Los Apson is a former Mexican rock-n-roll band, best known for their Spanish language cover versions of famous songs. History The band was formed in 1957 by Arturo Durazo, a guitarist and a rock-n-roll enthusiast, with his brother Francisco “Pancho” Durazo. Both of them had a relatively easy access to popular English hits of the time as they lived in the border town of Agua Prieta, Sonora. Originally named Los Apson Boys, they quickly shortened it to Los Apson, the band's name came from the first letters of the town, and the first three from the state. They were quickly joined by José Luis García and Tránsito Gámez along with Raúl Hernández Cota. The subtropical zones or subtropics are geographical and climate zones to the north and south of the tropics. The Köppen climate classification is one of the most widely used climate classification systems. It was first published by German-Russian climatologist Wladimir Köppen (1846–1940) in 1884, with several later modifications by Köppen, notably in 1918 and 1936. Semi-arid Climate
A semi-arid climate, semi-desert climate, or steppe climate is a dry climate sub-type. It is located on regions that receive precipitation below potential evapotranspiration, but not as low as a desert climate. There are different kinds of semi-arid climates, depending on variables such as temperature, and they give rise to different biomes.
