Agnisnaan
Agnisnaan is a 1985 Indian Assamese language drama film directed by Bhabendra Nath Saikia. The film is based on Saikia's novel titled ''Antareep''. The film starred Indra Bania, Kashmiri Saikia Baruah, Chetana Das, Ashok Deka, Moloya Goswami, Arjun Guha Thakuria, Arun Nath and Biju Phukan. Plot The story revolves around a wealthy businessman who opts for a second marriage. This decision shocks and angers his first wife and his son. It is a story on human psychology along with an off-beat story line. Kashmiri Saikia Baruah is an Indian film and stage actress and singers who works in Assamese cinema. She was born in Mangaldoi, Assam. She has played stellar roles in award-winning Assamese films such as ''Putola Ghar'', ''Sandhya Raag'', '' Agnisnaan'' and '' Hkhagoroloi Bohu Door.'' Bhabendra Nath Saikia
Bhabendra Nath Saikia (20 February 1932 – 13 August 2003) was a novelist, short-story writer, Editor and a Film director from Assam, India. Dr. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.He was the pioneering motive behind the publication of college level textbooks in Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages. Indra Bania ( as, ইন্দ্ৰ বনিয়া; 24 December 1942 – 25 March 2015) was an Indian theatre actor, playwright, film actor and director from Assam. His performance in Jahnu Barua's ''Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai'' earned him the Silver Leopard Best Actor's award at the Locarno International Film Festival. Biju Phukan; 18 February 1947 – 22 November 2017) was an Assamese actor. He was born in Dibrugarh, India, where he studied in the Dibrugarh HS Kanoi College and Dibrugarh Govt boys' higher secondary school Dibrugarh. He appeared in more than eighty Assamese feature films. His first movie was '' Dr. Bezbarua'' (1970). His first role as leading actor was in ''Baruar Songshar'' followed by ''Aranya'' which established him as a 'hero'. One of his songs that attained fame and was successful in the charts was "Mon Hira Doi" from the film ''Bowari''. Assamese cinema, also known as Jollywood, is an Indian film industry of Assamese-language motion pictures. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie '' Joymoti''. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style, especially with the movies of Bhabendra Nath Saikia and Jahnu Barua.
