Adam Dubin
Adam C. Dubin (born January 10, 1964) is an American filmmaker who co-directed the Beastie Boys music videos "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)" and "No Sleep till Brooklyn" with Ric Menello. "Fight for Your Right" is number three on MTV's all time funniest music videos. In 2007, Fuse interviewed Dubin when it aired a 30-minute episode about "Fight for Your Right" as part of their series ''Videos That Rocked the World''. A graduate of the NYU film program, Dubin was roommates at NYU with record producer Rick Rubin. Dubin directed '' A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica'' feature-length documentary for heavy metal band Metallica and their music video "Nothing Else Matters". Beastie Boys
Beastie Boys were an American rap rock group from New York City, formed in 1978. The group was composed of Mike D, Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam Yauch, Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Ad-Rock, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar, Programming (music), programming). Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band the Young Aborigines in 1978, with Diamond as vocalist, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry (Beastie Boys), John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach on drums. "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)" (shortened to "Fight for Your Right" on album releases) is a song by American hip hop group the Beastie Boys, released as the fourth single released from their debut album ''Licensed to Ill'' (1986). One of their best-known songs, it reached No. 7 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the week of March 7, 1987, and was later named one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. The song was also included on their compilation albums '' The Sounds of Science'' in 1999, ''Solid Gold Hits'' in 2005 and ''Beastie Boys Music'' in 2020. ''A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica'' is a two-part documentary about the process of making the ''Metallica'' album (or "The Black Album") and the following tour. It was produced by Juliana Roberts and directed by Adam Dubin. ''A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica'' was released as a double VHS pack. Both parts are available on a single DVD, but only in region 1. Part 1 This 90-minute video shows how Metallica and their producer Bob Rock worked their way through making the ''Metallica'' album. It also includes the making of the video for "Enter Sandman" and also a listening party for invited fans to come and listen to the album in full. The video as well highlights tensions between Bob Rock and Metallica. The infamous exchange between Kirk Hammett and Bob Rock during the recording of " The Unforgiven" guitar solo is documented.
