Adam Austin (1911-1970) is a former rugby union international referee who represented the Scottish Rugby Union. He was involved in many sports: rugby union, golf, curling and bowling, the most notable. Lenzie
Lenzie () is an affluent town by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway in the East Dunbartonshire council area of Scotland. It is about north-east of Glasgow city centre and south of Kirkintilloch. Glasgow HSFP
Glasgow HSFP are a former rugby union team that played their home games at Glasgow, Scotland. The team was founded in 1884 by former pupils of the High School of Glasgow. The team no longer exists. In 1982 it merged with the Kelvinside Academicals RFC, Kelvinside Academicals - the rugby team of another school; the Kelvinside Academy - to form a rugby club called Glasgow High Kelvinside. In 1997, Glasgow High Kelvinside merged with Glasgow Academicals RFC, Glasgow Academicals to form Glasgow Hawks RFC, Glasgow Hawks. The Scottish Inter-District Championship is a rugby union competition between regional sides in Scotland. Established in 1953, the tournament went through several formats. The Scottish Rugby Union confirmed in January 2023 that the Scottish Inter-District Championship would return for the 2022-23 season, starting in May 2023. The Inter-District Championship will be an amateur championship with players selected outwith the professional United Rugby Championship and Super 6 leagues. The British Newspaper Archive web site provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London, until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The library has an almost complete collection of British and Irish newspapers since 1840. This is partly because of the legal deposit legislation of 1869, which required newspapers to supply a copy of each edition of a newspaper to the library. 1953–54 Scottish Inter-District Championship
The 1953–54 Scottish Inter-District Championship was a rugby union competition for Scotland's district teams. This season saw the first formal Scottish Inter-District Championship. The district sides selected were Glasgow District, Edinburgh District, North and South. The Midlands district was not represented. Instead their players were selected in the formation of the North side. This was the only season that North played in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. Midlands complained to the Scottish Rugby Union that despite having several players selected in the North of Scotland side they had no recognition for this. The SRU agreed and in subsequent seasons the combined team was known as North and Midlands in the Inter-District tournament.
