Adam Apple
Adam Apple (November 27, 1831April 19, 1905) was a Kingdom of Bavaria born immigrant to the United States who was a farmer, carpenter, and politician. A Democrat, he served four years in the Wisconsin State Senate and seven years in the State Assembly representing Racine County. Biography Apple was born in the Palatinate Region in the Kingdom of Bavaria. He was the eldest of five sons born to Adam and Barbara Beecher Apple. He was raised and worked on his father's farm and was educated in German common schools until age 17, when he set out on his own to emigrate to the United States. He traveled to Rotterdam, in what was then part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, and sailed from there to New York City, finally settling in Philadelphia, where he worked as an apprentice cabinetmaker. Wisconsin Senate, District 3
The 3rd Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in southeast Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within central Milwaukee County. It comprises much of the city of Milwaukee's near-south side, as well as the village of West Milwaukee and eastern parts of the cities of West Allis and Greenfield. Franklin Pierce
Franklin Pierce (November 23, 1804October 8, 1869) was the 14th president of the United States, serving from 1853 to 1857. He was a northern Democrat who believed that the abolitionist movement was a fundamental threat to the nation's unity. He alienated anti-slavery groups by signing the Kansas–Nebraska Act and enforcing the Fugitive Slave Act. Conflict between North and South continued after Pierce's presidency, and, after Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, Southern states seceded, resulting in the American Civil War. Pierce was born in New Hampshire. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1833 until his election to the Senate, where he served from 1837 until his resignation in 1842. The cultivation of tobacco usually takes place annually. The tobacco is germinated in cold frames or hotbeds and then transplanted to the field until it matures. The California Gold Rush (1848–1855) was a gold rush that began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by James W. Marshall at Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. The news of gold brought approximately 300,000 people to California from the rest of the United States and abroad.
