Accidents Never Happen
Accidents Never Happen (ANH) is a rock band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 2005. After releasing their debut album ''Oslo Beat'' in 2006, vocalist and main songwriter Magne Mostue, guitarist Martin Natvig, drummer Christian Løvhaug and guitarist Jesper Jørgensen moved to Liverpool, UK. The band's music was influenced significantly by their two-year stay in the UK. Their second project, ''Accidents Never Happen'', was recorded in The Motor Museum and St Brides church; (The band's rehearsal space) with Simon Cullwick (who allegedly turned down an offer to work on Razorlight's '' Slipway Fires''). "Accidents Never Happen" was a much darker album than ''Oslo Beat''. Internal differences came to a head by the end of 2008 when the band, despite widespread support, decided to head back to Norway. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. Asobi Seksu
Asobi Seksu was an American shoegaze/dream pop band based in New York City. Their music used a textured and effects-heavy vocal and guitar sound. The band primarily consisted of Yuki Chikudate (vocals, keyboards) and James Hanna (guitar, vocals). History Forming in 2001, the band was originally known as Sportfuck, and issued an EP under that name that year. The band then changed their name to Asobi Seksu, from the Japanese 遊びセックス (asobi sekkusu), "play sex". The original lineup consisted of Chikudate, Hanna, drummer Keith Hopkin and bassist Glenn Waldman. Hanna and Hopkin, with bassist Haji, had previously been members of the New York City space rock trios Three Cornered Season and Theta Wave State. Liverpool Sound City
Liverpool Sound City is an annual music festival and industry conference in Liverpool, England. Founded in 2008 by Dave Pichilingi (also founder of Modern Sky UK), Sound City was located in Liverpool City Centre venues, such as The Kazimier, The Zanzibar and the Liverpool Cathedral, until 2015 when it was relocated to Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool's historic docklands. The Mae Shi
The Mae Shi was an experimental rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2002. History The band was formed by Tim Byron and Ezra Buchla, who had known each other for years, having spent time growing up in the Los Angeles suburb of Claremont together—Jeff Byron and Buchla were classmates at Claremont High School and close friends. Originally, Tim played guitar, Buchla played a collection of 30-year-old Buchla modules and sang, and varying drummers accompanied them. When Jeff graduated from college, he joined the band on guitar and Tim moved to bass. After a few months of practicing together, the three met Brad Breeck, who was studying at the California Institute of Arts with Buchla and had performed versions of John Zorn's "strategy game piece" ''Cobra'' in an ensemble led by Buchla. Johnny Foreigner are an indie rock four-piece from Birmingham, UK, consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Alexei Berrow, bassist and vocalist Kelly Parker (née Southern), drummer Junior Elvis Washington Laidley, and guitarist and visual artist Lewes Herriot. The band released six albums, beginning with a self-release in 2005 and their full-studio debut Waited Up 'til It Was Light in 2008. They were last active in 2016, releasing the record ''Mono No Aware'', touring it, and performing their final show at a Christmas gig in Leicester. Yeasayer () was an American experimental rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2006. The band consisted of Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Anand Wilder. They announced their split on December 19, 2019. Wave Machines
Wave Machines was an English art pop band formed in Liverpool in 2007. The band released singles "The Greatest Escape We Ever Made" and "I Go I Go I Go" on Chess Club Records before signing with Neapolitan Music Limited in 2008. Three further singles, "Keep The Lights On", a newly recorded version of "I Go I Go I Go" and "Punk Spirit" followed. The band's debut album ''Wave If You're Really There'' was released in June 2009. Daniel Victor Snaith (born March 29, 1978) is a Canadian composer, musician, and recording artist who has performed under the stage names Caribou, Manitoba, and Daphni. Career Snaith originally recorded under the stage name Manitoba, but after being threatened with a lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba (real name Richard Blum), formerly of punk band The Dictators, Snaith changed his performance name to Caribou. Snaith's previous full-length albums were then re-released under the new moniker, and ''The Milk of Human Kindness'' was released in 2005 by Domino. In June that year the album topped the !earshot Campus and Community Radio Top 200 chart. When playing gigs, Snaith usually performs with a live band and plays percussion.
