Abraham Ephiphanios
Abraham Epiphanios is the metropolitan of the Mavelikara Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. He was previously the metropolitan of Sulthan Bathery diocese and the assistant metropolitan of Bangalore Diocese. He was born on 17 September 1960 in Kozhenchery. He is a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Malaysia. Ephiphanios had his education in Pathanamthitta Catholicate College, the Orthodox Theological Seminary and took M.Th. degree from Serampore University. He was ordained as deacon in 1986 and priest in 1987 respectively; on 31 March 2002, he became Ramban. He was in the ashrams in Parumala and Madras from 1990 to 1996. He also served as Vicar of St. Thomas Cathedral from 1996 to 2002. Thereafter, he served as the Manager of Bishop's House, Madras in 2003. Mavelikara Orthodox Diocese
Mavelikkara Diocese is one of the 30 dioceses of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The diocese was created on 10 August 2002. H.G Vattamparambil Dr Abraham Mar Epiphanios, is the Metropolitan of the diocese. The head office is located in TheoBhavan Aramana, Thazhakkara, Mavelikkara. History This diocese was founded on 10 August 10 2002. It was inaugurated in the presence of Baselios Mar Thoma Mathews II, former Catholicos of the East. Kolathukalathil Paulose Pachomios was the first Metropolitan. Forty parishes and twelve chapels of the dioceses of Kollam, Niranam and Chengannoor, and the erstwhile 39 parishes here were annexed to the newly introduced one. The headquarters of the diocese was consecrated by Baselios Mar Thoma Didymos I in 2008. Catholicate College Pathanamthitta
Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta, established in 1952, is an institution of higher education at Pathanamthitta of Kerala, India. Catholicate College belongs to the first group of colleges in Kerala to receive academic accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In the third phase of (NAAC) re-accreditation, the college has been re-accredited by NAAC in A+ grade with CGPA of 3.60. The college is owned by Malankara Orthodox Church, founded by Catholicos Moran Mar Baselios Geevarghese II. Orthodox Pazhaya Seminary
The Orthodox Theological Seminary also known as Old Seminary (Pazhaya Seminari) is a seminary of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It was founded in 1815 by Colonel John Munro with the help of the priest-monk Pulikkottil Joseph Ittoop Ramban (later Mar Dionysius II) to serve the Malankara Syrian Church and to invite CMS missionaries to teach theology. At that time deacons were ordained as priests without an organized theological education. After the arrival of CMS missionaries, theological education was organized for the priests. John Munro, the British Resident in the Kingdom of Travancore offered his unreserved support for the initiative and upon his insistence the Queen of Travancore granted of tax-free land, Rs.20,000 and the necessary timber for the construction of the Seminary.
