Yscir
Yscir (or Ysgir) is a community in the county of Powys, Wales (the historic county of Brecknockshire) and is 35.3 miles (56.7 km) from Cardiff. Cradoc and Aberyscir are villages within the boundary of this community. Also there are the settlements of Battle and Fenni-fach. In 2011 the population of Yscir was 424 with 17.9% of them able to speak Welsh. Aberyscir Round Cairn and two standing stones (Battle and Fennifach Standing Stones) are all Scheduled prehistoric Monuments dating back to the Celtic (pre-Roman) period. Governance Yscir is part of the Yscir electoral ward for elections to Powys County Council. The ward includes the communities of Yscir, Merthyr Cynog and Trallong. At the 2011 Census this ward had a population of 1,038. Brecon and Radnorshire ( cy, Brycheiniog a Sir Faesyfed) is a county constituency in Wales of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Created in 1918, it elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election. The constituency is represented by Fay Jones of the Conservative Party, who defeated incumbent Jane Dodds of the Liberal Democrats at the 2019 general election. A community ( cy, cymuned) is a division of land in Wales that forms the lowest tier of local government in Wales. Welsh communities are analogous to civil parishes in England. There are 878 communities in Wales. History Until 1974 Wales was divided into civil parishes. Brecon
Brecon (; cy, Aberhonddu; ), archaically known as Brecknock, is a market town in Powys, mid Wales. In 1841, it had a population of 5,701. The population in 2001 was 7,901, increasing to 8,250 at the 2011 census. Historically it was the county town of Brecknockshire (Breconshire); although its role as such was eclipsed with the formation of the County of Powys, it remains an important local centre.
