''A Star-Crossed Wasteland'' is the third studio album by American rock band In This Moment. The album was first released in Germany on July 9, 2010, and later in the United States by Century Media. It was named by Alternative Press as one of the most anticipated releases of 2010. This is the first album not to feature bassist Jesse Landry; it is also the band's only album to feature bassist Kyle Konkiel, and the last album with founding members rhythm guitarist Blake Bunzel and drummer Jeff Fabb. Background Before the band started their first headlining tour in late 2009, vocalist Maria Brink announced that they had begun writing songs for their upcoming third album to be released the following summer. In This Moment
In This Moment is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed by singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth in 2005. They found drummer Jeff Fabb and started the band as Dying Star. Unhappy with their musical direction, they changed their name to In This Moment and gained two band members, guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell. In 2005, bassist Newell left the band and was replaced by Jesse Landry. Their debut album, ''Beautiful Tragedy'', was released in 2007. Their follow up, titled '' The Dream'' was released the following year debuting at number 73 on the ''Billboard'' 200. "The Promise" is a song by American rock band In This Moment. It is the second promotional single released from their third studio album, ''A Star-Crossed Wasteland'', and first to go for radio adds. The song is a duet with Otherwise vocalist Adrian Patrick. The music video for the song premiered in late September 2010. Song meaning Background Originally, Brink had written the male vocal parts of the song for Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody. Due to record business issues, Moody was not able to lend his vocals to the track. Brink explains, "They (Five Finger Death Punch) would've had a single coming out at the same time as us, so it prevents problems business wise or whatever. herewas nothing we could do for it..." Mayhem Festival 2010 was the third annual Mayhem Festival created by Kevin Lyman. The 2010 edition of the festival was co-headlined by Korn and Rob Zombie. As in previous years, the main sponsor of the festival is Rockstar Energy drink, and each date had a different Battle of the Bands winner performing on the Jägermeister stage. In addition to three stages with various heavy metal bands, Mayhem Festival 2010 also hosted other entertainment acts.
