A Night Of Triumph
''A Night of Triumph'' is a concert video first released to VHS and LaserDisc, later released as a live album and DVD by the Canadian hard rock band Triumph. The concert was recorded on January 16, 1987, at the Halifax Metro Centre in Nova Scotia during Triumph's '' Sport of Kings tour''. The DVD bonus features included backstage footage from a Triumph concert at Spectrum in Philadelphia. Also included is the video for "Just One Night" and a live performance of "When the Lights Go Down" from the band's appearance at the 1983 US Festival, which itself was previously released as a standalone DVD in 2003 called ''Live at the US Festival''. ''The Sport of Kings'' is the eighth studio album by the Canadian hard rock band Triumph, released in 1986. It was recorded at the band's home studio of Metalworks Studios from May to August 1986. A song from the album, "Somebody's Out There", was the band's biggest hit, reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 over a 15-week stay in the charts and hitting number 84 in the Canadian pop charts. History This is the second-to-last studio album with the band's guitarist and co-lead vocalist Rik Emmett, and it clearly represents the difficulties the band was experiencing at the time. Mike Levine (musician)
Michael Stephen Levine (born 1 June 1949) is the bassist and keyboardist for the Canadian hard rock band Triumph. Early life Levine was born in Toronto, Ontario. He attended Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute in Scarborough. Career In 1970 Levine helped to bring back together the band Motherlode, which had broken up after releasing one hit single and a couple of less popular recordings. They toured around northern and western Ontario before disbanding once again. Levine played bass in the Toronto blues band Abernathy Shagnaster's Wash and Wear Band with guitarist Fred Keeler, keyboardists Peter Young and drummer Gil Moore. After the band's first single was recorded, Keeler and Young left; Levine and Moore recruited guitarist Rik Emmett, and the three founded the heavy metal band Triumph in 1974. Gil Moore
Gil Moore is a Canadian musician. Born in Toronto, Moore was the drummer and co-vocalist (sharing vocal duties with guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett) of the Canadian power trio Triumph. Before Moore was in Triumph he was in a band called Sherman & Peabody which also featured Buzz Shearman of Moxy and Greg Godovitz of Goddo. He co-wrote and contributed lead vocals to a number of Triumph songs and also performed this function live. While Emmett's vocals and songwriting tended toward the more melodic side of Triumph, Moore's vocal and writing style was more blues/hard rock oriented, although on the original line-up's last two albums, Moore also began writing and singing lead on a number of softer, ballad-style songs. Moore is the owner of Canada's biggest recording studio Metalworks Studios, located in Mississauga, Ontario. Rik Emmett
Richard Gordon Emmett (born July 10, 1953) is a vocalist, guitarist, and member of the Canadian rock band Triumph. Career Emmett left Triumph in 1988 to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, '' Absolutely'', was released in 1990 and became a moderate hit across the United States and Canada thanks to the hits "When a Heart Breaks," "Big Lie" and "Saved by Love". He is also a writer for ''Guitar Player'' magazine and teaches song-writing and music business at Humber College in Toronto. For a time during the 1980s, Emmett contributed cartoons to ''Hit Parader'' magazine satirizing the music industry. Due to a production error by Gil Moore and Mike Levine on Triumph's first album, Emmett changed the spelling of his first name to "Rik" rather than have the album recalled or cause confusion with fans. "Follow Your Heart" is a hard rock song and the fourth track from Triumph's 1984 album ''Thunder Seven''. Set in the key of C# minor and E major, it reached number 35 on the Canada pop chart; number 88 in the U.S. The video that was shot to accompany the single was filmed live at the Providence Civic Center in Rhode Island. During the concert, the band announced they would be filming a video after the concert and the audience were free to stay around. The US Festival (''US'' pronounced like the pronoun, not as initials) was the name of two early 1980s music and culture festivals in southern California, held east of Los Angeles, near San Bernardino. The Spectrum (later known as CoreStates Spectrum, First Union Spectrum and Wachovia Spectrum) was an indoor arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
