Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Jüri Arrak
Jüri Arrak (24 October 1936 – 16 October 2022) was an Estonian painter, whose works with distinguished and recognizable style have won acclaim around the world. Arrak was born in Tallinn on 24 October 1936, and graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute. He was a member of the Estonian Artists' Association and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Malle Leis
Malle Leis (7 July 1940 – 9 August 2017) was an Estonian painter and graphic artist. Her works mostly represent abstract forms in nature, including flowers, fruits, and vegetables. She developed a silk screen technique that became her trademark. Early life and education Malle Leis was born on July 7, 1940 in the town Viljandi, Estonia, a country on the Baltic Sea across from Finland. Leis began her education at the Tartu Art School attending from 1958 to 1961 and attended the Estonian Academy of Arts (also called Art Institute of Tallinn, see Wiki for associated names in past) from 1961 to 1967. Leis graduated from the stage design department in 1967 and was able to be recognized as one of the original members of ANK '64. Enno Ootsing
Enno Ootsing (born 18 April 1940) is an Estonian artist and academic. He has worked as a freelance graphic artist and designer, book artist and illustrator. In 1980, he became a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts, and from 1984 until 2005, he was a professor and head of the graphics department of the institute. Since 2007 he has been a professor emeritus at the institute. Early life and education Enno Ootsing was born in Räpina. His father was a non-commissioned officer in the Estonian War of Independence and received a plot of land in Alamõisa for his participation in the war, where he built a home. Ootsing attended schools in Räpina, graduating from Räpina Secondary School in 1958. Afterwards, he enrolled at the Tartu Art School, graduating in 1961 with a degree in painting and art pedagogy. Tõnis Vint (22 April 1942 – 22 June 2019) was an Estonian graphic artist, considered by some to have been one of the most important artists of the 1960s to 1980s in Estonia. The term Soviet Nonconformist Art refers to Soviet art produced in the former Soviet Union from 1953 to 1986 (after the death of Joseph Stalin until the advent of Perestroika and Glasnost) outside of the rubric of Socialist Realism. Tallinn Art Hall () is an art gallery built in 1934 by Edgar Johan Kuusik on Freedom Square, Tallinn, Freedom Square in Tallinn, Estonia. It is known for its exhibitions of modern art, held in the gallery itself as well as the locations Tallinn Art Hall Gallery and Tallinn City Gallery.
