The ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship is a touring car racing series based in Germany. History On 16 September 2015, the German Series was launched by ADAC and Engstler Motorsport, who already run in the International Series. The new category runs in the same events as ADAC GT Masters and ADAC Formula 4 as well as Deutscher Tourenwagen Cup (formerly ADAC Procar) until the series was disbanded in 2016. Touring Car Racing
Touring car racing is a motorsport road racing competition with heavily modified road-going cars. It has both similarities to and significant differences from stock car racing, which is popular in the United States. While the cars do not move as fast as those in Formula racing, formula or sports car racing, sports car races, their similarity both to one another and to fans' own vehicles makes for entertaining, well-supported racing. The lesser use of aerodynamics means following cars have a much easier time passing than in open-wheel racing, and the more substantial bodies of the cars makes the subtle bumping and nudging for overtaking much more acceptable as part of racing. As well as short "sprint" races, many touring car series include one or more Endurance racing (motorsport), endurance races, which last anything from 3 to 24 hours and are a test of reliability and pit crews as much as car, driver speed, and consistency. 2017 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship
The 2017 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship was the second season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to the TCR regulations. The series will run predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship will also take in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria and the Netherlands. Josh Files successfully managed to defend his title, beating Mike Halder in Race 1 of the Hockenheim. The 2019 ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship will be the fourth season of touring car racing to be run by the German-based sanctioning body ADAC to the TCR regulations. The series will run predominantly in ADAC's home nation Germany. As a support category to the ADAC GT Masters series, the championship will also take in races in the neighbouring nations of Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. On 20 December 2018 it was announced a partnership between the series' promoter and Auto Sport Switzerland, the Swiss National Sporting Authority, which was going see all 7 rounds of the calendar as part of the 2019 TCR Swiss Trophy which was set to be in its second edition. The TCR Swiss Trophy was set be open to Swiss drivers as well as any driver with valid racing license, issued by Auto Sport Switzerland. Harald "Hari" Proczyk (born 9 November 1975) is an Austrian racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series. Having previously competed in the ADAC TCR Germany Series, Blancpain Sprint Series & ADAC GT Masters amongst others. Racing career Touring Cars Proczyk began his career in 1998 in the German Citroën Saxo Cup, he raced there for two seasons finishing 2nd in the standings both years, before switching to the German Touring Car Challenge. In 1999 he switched to the German Formula König championship, he raced there for a single season and finished 16th in the championship standings that year. He switched to German Ford Puma Cup in 2001, he finished 9th in the championship standings in 2002, before switching to the German Ford Fiesta Cup in 2003.
