ABC Champions Cup
The Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia), formerly the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, is an annual continental club basketball competition organised by FIBA Asia. It is the highest level club competition for professional basketball in Asia. Introduced in 1981, as the ''Asian Basketball Club Championship'', the competition rebranded in 2004 to the ''FIBA Asia Champions Cup''. In 2024, it was announced that the tournament will be renamed as the Basketball Champions League Asia. History The competition was first organised by the Asian Basketball Confederation in 1981, when the inaugural tournament was hosted in Hong Kong. The first-ever champions were the Bayi Rockets from China. In 1995, the name of the competition was changed to the ABC Champions Cup. FIBA West Asia Super League
The FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) is an international basketball league organised by FIBA Asia, consisting of clubs from West Asia and Gulf regions, in addition to the representatives of South and Central Asia. The league was announced in 2022 and started with the inaugural season from December, until June 2023. The league exists out of 18 teams, divided in its sub-zones. The champions and runners-up of each season is scheduled to qualify for the Basketball Champions League Asia. History On March 31, 2022 FIBA announced the creation of the West Asia Super League. The United Arab Emirates-based company eVulpa was appointed as partner for its commercial rights. Swift (PABL Team)
RFM-Swift Hotdogs is a former basketball team of the now defunct Philippine Basketball League in which the ballclub played in the league's inaugural season in 1983 until the disbandment of the franchise in 1996. The Company, Republic Flour Mills (RFM), through owner and then PABL chairman Joey Concepcion III, is known to be supportive of amateur basketball and sponsoring the national team during the late-1980s. RFM won three PABL championships from 1987-1989, first with coach Yeng Guiao and with borrowed players Jojo Lastimosa and Peter Aguilar from Converse-Lhuillier and Nelson Asaytono from Magnolia, reinforcing the squad. The team won their first championship in the 1987 First Conference. The Hotdogs retain the crown the following season, this time under coach Arturo Valenzona and with Alvin Patrimonio as their franchise player, winning his last amateur title. The Chinese Taipei men's national basketball team is the men's basketball team representing the Republic of China on Taiwan in international competitions, organised and run by the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA; ). The Northern Cement basketball team (popularly known as, the NCC basketball team) refers to the team that represented the national basketball program and training pool for the Philippines men's national basketball team from 1980 to 1986. The team was owned by businessman Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco, Jr. through his company, Northern Cement Corporation (NCC). British Hong Kong
Hong Kong was a colony and later a dependent territory of the British Empire from 1841 to 1997, apart from a period of occupation under the Japanese Empire from 1941 to 1945 during the Pacific War.
