AACTA Award For Best Original Screenplay
The AACTA Award for Best Original Screenplay is an award presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), for an Australian screenplay "written directly and originally for the screen". Prior to the establishment of the Academy in 2011, the award was presented by the Australian Film Institute (AFI) at the annual Australian Film Institute Awards (more commonly known as the AFI Awards). It was first handed out in 1978 when the award for Best Screenplay (which was first presented at the 1974-75 awards) was split into two categories: Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay. The award has since been presented intermittently from 1978-1979, 1983-1987, 1989, 1993-2006, and then from 2008-present. John Dingwall
John Dingwall (13 July 1940 – 3 May 2004) was an Australian journalist, writer and director of film and television, best known for his screenplay ''Sunday Too Far Away'' (1975). Dingwall should not be confused with the Scottish journalist of the same name. Career Dingwall was born in Rockhampton, Queensland, where he commenced his career as a journalist with a cadetship at the city's daily newspaper, ''The Morning Bulletin''. Linda Aronson (born 20 March 1950) is a British-born Australian screenwriter, educator and author. Esben Storm (26 May 1950 – 28 March 2011) was a Danish Australian actor, screenwriter, television producer, television director, voice artist and songwriter. He was well known for his work with the Australian Children's Television Foundation, headed by Patricia Edgar, where he worked for 15 years.
