John Dingwall
John Dingwall (13 July 1940 – 3 May 2004) was an Australian journalist, writer and director of film and television, best known for his screenplay '' Sunday Too Far Away'' (1975). Dingwall should not be confused with the Scottish journalist of the same name. Career Dingwall was born in Rockhampton, Queensland, where he commenced his career as a journalist with a cadetship at the city's daily newspaper, ''The Morning Bulletin''. He then moved to Sydney, where he worked as a police reporter for ''The Sydney Morning Herald'' before going to Crawford Productions as a television writer, working on programs such as '' Homicide'' and ''Division Four''.Simpson, Roger (20 May 2004A nose for the stories that define us ''The Sydney Morning Herald''. Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. The population of Rockhampton in June 2021 was 79,967, Estimated resident population, 30 June 2018. making it the fourth-largest city in the state outside of the cities of South East Queensland, and the List of cities in Australia by population, 22nd-largest city in Australia. Buddies (1983 Film)
''Buddies'' is a 1983 Australian comedy/drama film directed by Arch Nicholson and written by John Dingwall. Dingwall won the Best Original Screenplay AFI Award for the script. The film was not a great success in 1983, as no Australian distributor wanted to release it, but Dingwall took it around the country cinemas himself, where it was well received. Plot Young miners Mike and Johnny work in the gem fields of central Queensland around Emerald. Conflict arises when their pick-and-shovel operation is threatened by a large scale bulldozer operator.
