Azumah Nelson Sports Complex
Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, also known as Kaneshie Sports Complex, is a multi-use stadium in Accra, Ghana. The stadium was originally built during the era of the Supreme Military Council under General Acheampong in the 1970s. It was used mostly for football matches, on club level by Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Great Olympics of the Ghana Premier League while the Ohene Djan Stadium was being re-built in 2007. The stadium has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. It is named after Azumah Nelson. The Accra International Conference Centre is an events venue in Accra, Ghana. The Accra Sports Stadium, formerly named the Ohene Djan Stadium, is a multi-use stadium (40,000-capacity, all-seater) located in Accra. Ghana, mostly used for association football matches. Accra Sports Stadium Disaster
The Accra Sport Stadium disaster occurred at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra, Ghana on May 9, 2001. It took the lives of 126 people, making it the worst stadium disaster to have ever taken place in Africa. It is also the third-deadliest disaster in the history of association football behind the Estadio Nacional disaster and Kanjuruhan Stadium disaster. Event Ghana's two most successful football teams played that day, Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. Officials were anticipating crowd disturbances, and had taken extra security measures. Accra scored two late goals, and a referee called 2–1 Accra, resulting in disappointed Kotoko fans throwing plastic seats and bottles onto the pitch. Ghana National Theatre
The National Theatre was opened in 1992 to spearhead the Theatre movement in Ghana by providing a multi-functional venue for concerts, dance, drama and musical performances, screenplays, exhibitions and special events.
