Azra (film)
''Azra'' is a 1962 Pakistani costume film directed by Munshi Dil, and produced by Agha G. A. Gul under Evernew Pictures banner. Neelo played the title role in the film opposite Ejaz. The film is based on the legend of Azra Wameq. Music of the film was composed by Inayat Hussain. Although the film was in black and white, some of the songs were featured in color. It was Neelo's first pairing with Ejaz; they would later play together in ''Dosheeza'' (1962), ''Beti'' (1964), ''Gehra Daagh'' (1964) and ''Badnaam'' (1966). Although not a commercially successful film initially, ''Azra'' gained importance in the 1970s during its later theatrical runs and the film's popular film songs of Inayat Hussain. Zamurrad (born 1946) is a former Pakistani film actress who performed in Lollywood movies from the 1960s to 1980s. Life and career ''Zamurrad'' was born as ''Zumurrad Sultana'' in 1946 in Amritsar, British India. She started her acting career in 1958 in the Urdu film "''Hasart''". She played the role of actor Yousaf Khan's sister in the film. Since then, she worked in more than 150 Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto films, mostly in supporting roles. Tufail Hoshiarpuri (14 July 1914 – 4 January 1993) was a film song lyricist and a poet from Pakistan. Early life and career Muhammad Tufail was born on 14 July 1914 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, British India. His name later was changed to Tufail Hoshiarpuri as his professional name. He started his career as a school teacher in his hometown Hoshiarpur, British India. As the call for the British to quit India grew, the Pakistan movement and the All India Muslim League gained popularity. Tufail Hoshiarpuri started reading patriotic poems in Muslim League political gatherings. British authorities suspended him from his job as a school teacher. Agha Saleem Raza, a film actor at that time, introduced him to some film producers and he, therefore, launched his career as a film song lyricist in 1946. Saifuddin Saif
Saifuddin Saif (20 July 1922 12 July 1993) was a Pakistani lyricist, poet, film producer-director, and the founder of Rehnuma Films, a film studio of 1954. He was involved in writing poems and lyrics before and after the Partition. However, most of his films written before partition remained unreleased due to political instabilities in the subcontinent. He was best known for his film Kartar Singh, and is also credited for writing lyrics for Pakistan's historical and first-ever feature film '' Teri Yaad'', which helped him to appear among the prominent writers. As a poet, he wrote eleven gazals and four nazms on various subjects, including fifteen on friendship, fifteen on social, one on hope, and a poetic book titled ''Kham-e-Kakul'', also known as ''Khan-e-Kamal'' (amazing ruler). Naseem Begum ( ur, ), (24 February 1936 – 29 September 1971) was a popular, and well known Pakistani film playback singer. She was known as ''The Tradegy Queen'' for singing sorrowful and downhearted songs in films. She rose to prominence towards the end of the 1950s, and by 1964, she had won the prestigious Nigar Awards on four occasions. Saleem Raza (singer)
Noel Dias (4 March 1932 – 25 November 1983), better known as Saleem Raza ( ur, ), was a Pakistani playback singer. He started his singing career from Lahore, Pakistan and quickly gained popularity. Raza was a classically- trained singer and was more famous for singing sad songs. Raza's career suffered due to the rise of singer Ahmed Rushdi in the late 1950s. He left playback singing in 1966 as he lost his popularity with the film composers and moved to Canada where he died in 1983. Career Saleem Raza was born Noel Dias in a Christian family. Tanvir Naqvi (born Syed Khursheed Ali; 16 February 1919 1 November 1972), also spelled Tanveer Naqvi, was a Pakistani lyricist and poet. He wrote lyrics for 200 uncertain films, including Lollywood and Bollywood. He made his debut in Indian cinema with ''Swami'' film directed by Abdul Rashid Kardar, and later remained active in Pakistani film industry for over fifteen years.
