Tufail Hoshiarpuri
Tufail Hoshiarpuri (14 July 1914 – 4 January 1993) was a film song lyricist and a poet from Pakistan. Early life and career Muhammad Tufail was born on 14 July 1914 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, British India. His name later was changed to Tufail Hoshiarpuri as his professional name. He started his career as a school teacher in his hometown Hoshiarpur, British India. As the call for the British to quit India grew, the Pakistan movement and the All India Muslim League gained popularity. Tufail Hoshiarpuri started reading patriotic poems in Muslim League political gatherings. British authorities suspended him from his job as a school teacher. Agha Saleem Raza, a film actor at that time, introduced him to some film producers and he, therefore, launched his career as a film song lyricist in 1946. Hoshiarpur () is a city and a Municipal corporations in India, municipal corporation in Hoshiarpur district in the Doaba region of the Indian state of Punjab, India, Punjab. Zahida Parveen (singer)
Zahida Parveen was a Pakistani classical singer and playback singer. She was known as ''The Nightingale'' and ''The Queen of Kafi''. Early life Zahida Parveen was born in 1925 at Amritsar, Punjab during British India. Her parents died when she was very young so she was raised by one of her sisters, Peeran Ditti. She joined Patiala Gharana School to learn singing from sarangi player Baba Taj from Kapurthalla. Then she studied with Hussain Bakhsh Khan, a sarangi player from Amritsar. Career After partition, she moved to Pakistan and learned singing from Ashiq Hussain of Patiala Gharana in Lahore. Then she started singing at Radio Pakistan Lahore. In 1949 she worked as a playback singer and recorded a qawwali with Iqbal Bano and Munawar Sultana in the film ''Mundri''. The qawwali was composed by B.A. Chishti. ''Anarkali'' is a 1958 Pakistani historical drama film, directed by Anwar Kamal Pasha and starring Noor Jehan and Sudhir in lead roles. Based on the Urdu play of the same name by Imtiaz Ali Taj, the screenplay is written by Anwar Kamal Pasha with dialogues by Qamar Ajnalvi. The film revolves around the love of Jahangir for a slave girl Anarkali which creates a serious conflict between Prince Jahangir and his father, Mughal emperor Akbar. The film was released on 4 June 1958 and its performance was 'average' at the Box Office. Made with a budget of high production, the film is usually compared with landmark Bollywood film, ''Mughal-e-Azam'' which was also based on the same play.
