The Soviet Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union and as the Red Army (, Вооружённые Силы Советского Союза), were the armed forces of the Russian SFSR (1917–1922), the Soviet Union (1922–1991), and the Bolshevik Party from their beginnings in the Russian Civil War of 1917–1923 to the collapse of the USSR in 1991. The Aresh ''uezd'' was a county (''uezd'') of the Elizavetpol Governorate of the Russian Empire and later of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic with its center in Aresh (present-day Agdash) from 1874 until its formal abolition in 1929 by Soviet authorities. Mikhail Karlovich Levandovsky (russian: Левандовский, Михаил Карлович; May 15, 1890 – July 29, 1938) was a Soviet Komandarm 2nd rank. He fought in World War I in the Imperial Russian Army and in the Russian Civil War in the Soviet Red Army. He participated in the Soviet invasions of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Mikhail Dmitrievich Velikanov (russian: Михаил Дмитриевич Великанов) (December 27, 1892 – July 27, 1938) was a Soviet military commander (Komkor) involved in the Russian Civil War. He was born into a Russian peasant family in Nikolskoye, present-day Ryazan Oblast. He fought in World War I and joined the Red Army in February 1918. During the Russian Civil War, he started his service as a commander of a company and quickly rose to higher ranks. Azerbaijani Special Corps (ASC; ), was a military unit of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic (ADR), formed from the basis of Caucasian Native Cavalry Division, or so-called "Savage Division".
