Ayran Tunnel (motorway)
The Ayran Tunnel ( tr, Ayran Tüneli), is a motorway tunnel constructed on the Adana–Şanlıurfa motorway in Osmaniye Province, southern Turkey. It is situated on the Taurus Mountains near Arıcaklı village of Bahçe, Osmaniye. The -long twin-tube tunnel carrying three lanes of traffic in each direction is flanked by -long Taşoluk Tunnel in the west and -long Kızlaç Tunnel in the east on the same motorway. Dangerous goods carriers are not permitted to use the tunnel. The tunnel was constructed by Tekfen in New Austrian Tunnelling method (NATM). Bahçe, Osmaniye
Bahçe is a rural district and town of Osmaniye Province in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. It is located in the Nur Mountains area. The Bahçe Wind Farm, situated on the Gökçedağ, was the country's largest one with its installed power of 135 MW as it was commissioned in 2009. The Ayran railroad station (Ayran İstasyonu) is located east of the town, near the entrance to the tunnel (Bahçe-tünel) leading to Fevzipaşa. New Austrian Tunnelling Method
The New Austrian tunneling method (NATM), also known as the sequential excavation method (SEM) or sprayed concrete lining method (SCL), is a method of modern tunnel design and construction employing sophisticated monitoring to optimize various wall reinforcement techniques based on the type of rock encountered as tunneling progresses. This technique first gained attention in the 1960s based on the work of Ladislaus von Rabcewicz, Leopold Müller, and Franz Pacher between 1957 and 1965 in Austria.
