Early life Axelsen was born in Odense, and at six years old, his father introduced him to badminton, playing the games at the Odense badminton club. He lived with his father after his parents divorced, and then lived alone in Copenhagen at the age of 17 and joined the national team. His father Henrik Axelsen ran a small advertising agency for a number of years, but now works full time as a manager for his son, and his mother Gitte Lundager has a shop in central Odense with a hairdressing salon, cosmetics and fashion clothing. 	Geir Axelsen Geir Axelsen (born 15 May 1965) is a Norwegian economist, civil servant and politician for the Norwegian Labour Party. From 2018 he was appointed director general of Statistics Norway. Early life Born in Oslo, he has a cand.oecon. degree from the University of Oslo in 1994 and a Master of Public Administration from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2004. Career He started his political career in the Workers' Youth League, and chaired that organization's chapter in Oslo from 1987 to 1988. He worked as party secretary for the Labour Party in Oslo from 1994 to 1997, when he was hired in the Ministry of Finance. In 2005 he became counsellor of the Norwegian embassy in Brussels. 	Ole Christian Axelsen Ole Christian Axelsen (1849 – 1917) was a Norwegian businessperson. Axelsen was born in 1849 at Bakke in Vest-Agder county in Norway. He began his career in the company owned by the widow of J. G. Jansen. Later he married the widow's daughter. In 1879 he took over and expanded the operation under ''O. C. Axelsens Fabrikker A/S''. He started a barrel factory, sawmill and watermill at Drangeid, a village north of the town of Flekkefjord. Selurafossen, the waterfall from lake Lake Selura, had provided an opportunity for development of hydroelectric power for industry. He was also involved in merchantry, and briefly owned the historic cargo ship '' Skomvær''. He has been called the foremost businessman in Flekkefjord around 1900. He was a member of the city council, and a board member of the local savings bank.
