Axel Norling
Karl Axel Patrik Norling (16 April 1884 – 7 May 1964) was a Sweden, Swedish gymnast, Diving (sport), diver, and tug of war competitor who participated in the 1906 Intercalated Games and 1908 Summer Olympics, 1908 and 1912 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal in the tug of war in 1906, as well as two gold medals with the Swedish gymnastics team, in 1908 and 1912, alongside his younger brother Daniel Norling, Daniel. Norling was a member of Djurgårdens IF, which he represented in several sports. He played bandy with Djurgårdens IF Bandy and football with Djurgårdens IF Fotboll, both as a centre-half. For the football team, he played the 1904 Svenska Mästerskapet Final, 1904 and 1906 Svenska Mästerskapet Final, 1906 finals of Svenska Mästerskapet, both times losing to Örgryte IS. Djurgårdens IF Bandy is the bandy section of Swedish sports club Djurgårdens IF, located in Stockholm. History Djurgårdens IF was one of the teams playing at the Nordic Games in 1905, where the team lost the final to Uppsala HK. The club has been in the Swedish championship finals seven times before 1930, and won two of them, in 1908 and 1912. The 1908 team, who defeated Östergötlands BF with 3–1 at Idrottsparken in Norrköping, consisted of Bror Modén, Gunnar Friberg, Karl Öhman, Algot Nilsson, Götrik Frykman, Birger Walla, Arvid Spångberg, Ivar Friberg, Erik Lavass, Erik Andéhn, and Gottfrid Johansson. Örgryte Idrottssällskap, commonly referred to as Örgryte IS, Örgryte () or (especially locally) ÖIS or Öis, is a Swedish sports club based in Gothenburg. Svenska Mästerskapet was a Swedish football competition held as a cup to decide the Swedish Champions between 1896 and 1925. It was held during a short period, and all games were often played in either Gothenburg or Stockholm. For many years only teams from Gothenburg and Stockholm participated. The Swedish Championship knockout competition was last played in 1925. The 1924–1925 season saw the start of the nationwide league Allsvenskan, and from the 1930–1931 season the Allsvenskan winners have been crowned Swedish Champions, except for the years 1982–1990 when Allsvenskan was followed by the Swedish Championship Playoffs and 1991 and 1992 when Allsvenskan was followed by Mästerskapsserien, both to determine the Swedish Champions.
