Aviya Kopelman
Aviya Kopelman (born in Moscow 1978) is an Israeli composer and pianist. She is one of the youngest ever Israel Prime Minister Prize for Composition recipients and serves since 2013 as composer-in-residence of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Kopelman's musical education started with piano lessons and she is listed as a "notable alumna of Israel Arts and Science Academy", where she studied with prof. Andre Hajdu, prof. Bat-Sheva Rubinstein and prof. Michael Wolpe. She holds degrees in composition from Jerusalem Music and Dance Academy, Bar-Ilan University (MA Summa Cum Laude, PhD in progress). She was a lecturer in Hed College of Music in 2003–2007 and a senior lecturer, as well as academic advisor and master-classes curator in Rimon School of Music in 2006–2014. Israelis ( he, יִשְׂרָאֵלִים, translit=Yīśrāʾēlīm; ar, الإسرائيليين, translit=al-ʾIsrāʾīliyyin) are the citizens and nationals of the State of Israel. Dawn Upshaw
Dawn Upshaw (born July 17, 1960) is an American soprano. She is the recipient of several Grammy Awards and has released a number of Edison Award-winning discs; she performs both opera and art song, and her repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary. Many composers, including Henri Dutilleux, Osvaldo Golijov, John Harbison, Esa-Pekka Salonen, John Adams, and Kaija Saariaho, have written for her. In 2007, she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. Early life Dawn Upshaw was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She began singing while attending Rich East High School in Park Forest, Illinois and was the only female ever promoted to the top choir (the Singing Rockets) as a sophomore, according to choir director Douglas Ulreich. Ruth Dolores Weiss ( he, רות דולורס וייס; born February 23, 1978, in Ashkelon, Israel) is an Israeli musician. Yair Dalal ( he, יאיר דלאל; born 25 July 1955) is an Israeli musician of Iraqi-Jewish descent. His main instruments are the oud and the violin, and he also sings as accompaniment. He composes his own music and draws on Arab and Jewish traditions, as well as European classical music and Indian music. He is also a peace activist, and works to enhance understanding and communication between Arabs and Jews.
