Avernakø
Avernakø is a Danish island south of Funen. The island covers an area of 6 km2 and has about 100 inhabitants. Originally, Avernakø was two separate islands, "Korshavn" and "Avernak". In 1937 the two islands were connected by a dam named "Drejet" ("The Turn"), due to its peculiar shape. Main occupations are agriculture and tourism. Children attend the school at the nearby island Lyø. Lyø
Lyø is one of the islands of the South Funen Archipelago, located south of the larger island of Funen, in southern Denmark. It covers an area of and has 81 inhabitants. The island can be reached by ferry from Faaborg and Avernakø. Administratively, the island belongs to Faaborg-Midtfyn Municipality . Lyø Village Lyø Village is located in the centre of the island. The setting is dominated by old farmhouses, large trees and low stone walls, surrounding five ponds (originally 12). Lyø Church dates from about 1600 and is a typical Danish village church, white-washed and with a red tile roof. Harbour The small harbour is located approximately 1 kilometre from the village. Faaborg
Faaborg or FÃ¥borg () is an old port town located on Faaborg Fjord in Faaborg-Midtfyn municipality on the island of Funen in Denmark. By road, Faaborg is located southwest of Odense, west-northwest of Svendborg, and roughly southeast of Middelfart, depending upon the route. It has a population of 6,944 (1 January 2022). With its busy port, narrow streets and attractive old houses, the town is popular with tourists, particularly in the summer months. Faaborg was formerly the seat of Faaborg municipality. This is a list of islands of Denmark. Overview There are about 406 islands in Denmark, not including the Faroe Islands or Greenland. Some 70 of them are populated while the rest are uninhabited. Some of the uninhabited islands have only become uninhabited in recent decades, for economic reasons, as lighthouses and other publicly run facilities either became automated, or relocated to main islands or Jutland peninsula. Others became uninhabited as living costs outpaced income for the often fewer than 10 locals. Definition Different lists of Danish islands vary, depending on how the word "island" is defined. Funen
Funen ( da, Fyn, ), with an area of , is the third-largest island of Denmark, after Zealand and Vendsyssel-Thy. It is the 165th-largest island in the world. It is located in the central part of the country and has a population of 469,947 as of 2020. Funen's main city is Odense, which is connected to the sea by a seldom-used canal. The city's shipyard, Odense Steel Shipyard, has been relocated outside Odense proper. Funen belongs administratively to the Region of Southern Denmark. From 1970 to 2006 the island formed the biggest part of Funen County, which also included the islands of Langeland, Ærø, Tåsinge, and a number of smaller islands.
