Avelino Acosta
Andrés Avelino Acosta Parra (10 November 1917 – August 2008) was a Paraguayan Association football player that also defended his country during the Chaco War. As a footballer, Acosta played for Club Oriental, Cerro Porteño, Atlántida SC and most importantly for Club Atlético Corrales, Atlético Corrales where he was part of the longest tour by a Paraguay national team around Latin American (it lasted 1 year and 15 days). Acosta also played in several occasions for the Paraguay national football team, including the South American Championship 1942, 1942 Copa America.Copa America 1942 rosters

Avelino Arredondo
Avelino Arredondo was an Uruguayan assassin of Basque origin. Background Arredondo was a strong supporter of a rival faction of the ruling Colorado Party government of Uruguayan president Juan Idiarte Borda. An apparent attempt was made on the life of President Idiarte in April 1897. This was widely publicized, including in ''El Día'', edited by José Batlle y Ordóñez, where Arredondo's name also mysteriously appeared in connection with this incident, although he was ostensibly unconnected with this attempt on Idiarte's life. Assassination of Uruguayan President On August 25, 1897 Arredondo assassinated Idiarte in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo as he emerged from a church service. Claiming to have acted alone, he was convicted of the crime and imprisoned. Avelino Gomez Memorial Award
The Avelino Gomez Memorial Award is a Canadian thoroughbred horse racing honour given annually to a jockey who is Canadian-born, Canadian-raised, or a regular in the country for more than five years, who has made significant contributions to the sport. The honour is named for the late Cuban-born Canadian and American Hall of Fame jockey Avelino Gomez who died in 1980 of complications from injuries sustained in a racing accident. Avelino Gomez Memorial Award honourees receive a replica of the life-size statue of Gomez sculpted by Siggy Puchta that stands at Woodbine Racetrack. In 2004, Francine Villeneuve became the first female recipient of the award. José Dira Avelino Sr. (August 5, 1890 – July 21, 1986), was the first president of the Senate of the Third Republic of the Philippines and the second president of the Liberal Party. He was Senate President ''pro tempore'' to President Manuel Quezon prior to the establishment of the Commonwealth.
