Avalon Emerson
Avalon Emerson (born 10 November 1988) is an American electronic music producer and DJ. Emerson DJs at clubs such as Berghain in Berlin and has played at festivals like Coachella, Sonar and Pitchfork. Biography Emerson was born in San Francisco and raised in a musical household in Arizona. Along with Nine Inch Nails and Cocteau Twins, her mother played a lot of synth pop in the house—"Propaganda, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Depeche Mode". Her father plays guitar, and the two of them along with her sister would record using Cakewalk, sparking an early interest in music production. At 19, Emerson moved to San Francisco where she worked as a software developer and began to make electronic dance music, DJ and throw warehouse parties in the SoMa district of the city, before moving to Berlin in 2014. Young (formerly known as Young Turks) is a British independent record label that sits in the Beggars Group of labels launched by Caius Pawson in 2006. It has grown from an imprint of XL Recordings into a successful and influential label now partnered with XL and operates across a range of genres. The label's current roster includes The xx, FKA twigs, Sampha, Jamie xx, Koreless and Kamasi Washington. History In 2004, Caius Pawson supplied DJs and sound equipment for a series of all-night dance parties he called Young Turks. He enjoyed growing celebrity, until the police raided one of his parties and seized his gear. Lena Platonos (born 21 October 1951) is a Greek pianist and composer of electronic and art music. She took a leading role in the electronic music scene in the 1980s, while her work constituted an inspiration for Greek electronic musicians in the subsequent decades. The Magnetic Fields (named after the André Breton/Philippe Soupault novel '' Les Champs Magnétiques'') are an American band founded and led by Stephin Merritt. Merritt is the group's primary songwriter, producer, and vocalist, as well as frequent multi-instrumentalist.
