Avalon is a mostly residential neighbourhood located in south-central Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a suburban subdivision, consisting mostly of low-density, single detached dwellings. As of 2007, the area is home to 3,214 residents. The neighbourhood is considered a middle-income area, with an average family income of $65,000, an average dwelling value of $168,444 and a home ownership rate of 77.3%. History Most of the land for the neighbourhood was annexed by the city between 1910 and 1919, with the remaining southern piece annexed between 1960 and 1969. A 1913 map shows that the present-day Avalon area overlaps three registered subdivisions of the day: Avalon in the northwest, Pacific Addition in the east and railway stock yards in the south. Bruce Gordon (Detective Sergeant)
Bruce Gordon (November 14, 1962 – September 29, 2017) served as Saskatoon Detective Sargeant for the Saskatoon Police Service in the Sex Crimes Unit as wells as Major Crime/Homicide Unit. Gordon was an all round athlete, Director of Investigations, and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College Of Law in 2016 shortly before his passing. Early life Gordon grew up on a farm near Marsden, Saskatchewan. Later years Gordon was a forward with the Saskatoon Blades and Medicine Hat Tigers, an active hockey player who became the Saskatoon Blades captain during the beginning of the 1980s. Gordon also coached midget hockey. Aden Bowman Collegiate
Aden Bowman Collegiate is in the Queen Elizabeth subdivision, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, serving students from grades 9 through 12. It is also known as Aden Bowman, Bowman, or ABCI. The school was opened on September 2, 1958. Aden Bowman is known for the IB program and its fine arts program. Fine arts Aden Bowman is home of the Robert Hinitt or 'Castle' Theatre. The theatre, designed by a former teacher, includes a fly tower, a thrust stage and seating for about 600 people. Renovations occurred in the late 1990s which improved but altered the look of the original design of the theatre.
