Austrian Mexicans
Austrian Mexicans are Mexican citizens of Austrian descent or Austrian-born people who reside in Mexico. Most immigrants arrived in the country when Austria as well as other Central European countries were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. History 19th century Austrians often settled in the northern regions of Mexico, where the German immigrants had already established themselves. Emperor Maximilian (1864-67) invited a small number of Jews from the Austria-Hungarian region and other European countries to settle in Mexico. In 1938, around 1,500 Austrian immigrants arrived in Mexico. With diverse political origins, these Austrian refugees in Mexico were linked in their fight against fascism, at the time of the presidency of Manuel Ávila Camacho, the Austrian Republican Action Association of Mexico (aram). Statistics Austria, known locally as Statistik Austria, is the official name of Austria's Federal Statistical Office (german: Bundesanstalt Statistik Österreich), the country's agency for collecting and publishing official statistics related to Austria. In 2000 a bill (''federal law for statistics'') transformed the ''Österreichisches Statistisches Zentralamt'' (Austrian Statistical Central Office) into the Statistik Austria. Immigration To Mexico
Immigration to Mexico has been important in shaping the country's demographics. Since the early sixteenth century with the arrival of the Spanish, Mexico has received immigrants from Europe, Africa, the Americas (particularly the United States and Central America), and Asia. Today, millions of their descendants still live in Mexico and can be found working in different professions and industries. During the colonial era, hundreds of thousands of individuals were taken to what would become Mexico; primarily from West Africa, and to a lesser extent, Southeast Asia, these enslaved individuals were not voluntary immigrants. Ana Casas Broda (born 1965) is a Mexican photographer. She is known for her work ''Kinderwunsch'' (2013) which, created over seven years, explored "the joys and woes of motherhood, from sonograms and childbirth to playful adventures with her two sons". Life and work Casas was born in 1965 in Granada, Spain. Her father was Spanish and her mother was Austrian and her first language was German. Her grandmother was a photographer whose photographs inspired Broda. Throughout her childhood, Casas moved back and forth between Spain and Austria.
