The Australian Darts Open is a darts tournament held at Moama Bowling Club in Moama, Australia. First edition of the tournament took place in 2019. The next edition of this tournament took place in 2022 after an interruption caused by COVID-19 pandemic. World Darts Federation announced that the Australian Darts Open has been awarded Platinum ranking status, with a total prize fund of A$80,000, set to be one of the biggest WDF events in 2022. Moama
Moama ( or ) is a town in the Riverina district of southern New South Wales, Australia, in the Murray River Council local government area. The town is directly across the Murray River from the larger town of Echuca in the neighbouring state of Victoria, to which it is connected by a bridge. At the 2016 census, Moama had a population of 5,620. World Darts Federation
The World Darts Federation (WDF) is a sport governing body and (along with the PDC) a tournament organiser for the game of darts. It was formed in 1974 by representatives of the original fourteen founding members. Membership is open to the national organizing body for darts in all nations. The WDF encourages the promotion of the sport of darts among and between those bodies, in an effort to gain international recognition for darts as a major sport. The WDF is a full member of Global Association of International Sports Federations, which is the governing body for international sports federations. Finder Darts Masters
The Finder Darts Masters was a darts tournament held in Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands, sanctioned by the British Darts Organisation and the World Darts Federation, running intermittently under several different names from 1995 to 2018. The tournament was previously known as the Zuiderduin Masters from 2007 to 2014, as the Leendesk Masters in 2005, as the Doeland Grand Masters from 2001 to 2004, as the European Grand Masters in 2000, and as the Dutch Grand Masters in 1995 and 1996. It was held in December and was traditionally the last BDO event held before the annual World Championship. Damon Heta
Damon Heta (born 10 August 1987) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the Brisbane Darts Masters in 2019 and also, in pair with Simon Whitlock, World Cup of Darts in 2022. His nickname is "The Heat", a play on letters within his surname. After World Cup win, his teammate Simon Whitlock regarded him as best player on the world. Career A roofer by trade, Heta has mainly played on the Dartplayers Australia (DPA) Tour. Lisa Ashton
Lisa Ashton (born 27 August 1970) is an English professional darts player who currently plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. She is a four-time BDO World Darts Women's Champion and has won over 100 titles in women's darts. In 2020, she became the first woman to win a PDC Tour Card at the PDC Q-School. Career Ashton reached the quarter-finals of the 2007 Women's World Masters, beating 1996 finalist Heike Jenkins (Ernst) in the last 16 before losing to Rilana Erades. The next year, she reached the semi-finals, beating Anne Kirk in the last 16 and then beat Australia's Cathy Shaw, before losing to eventual winner Francis Hoenselaar. The 2022 Australian Darts Open was the second edition of the Australian Darts Open organised by Darts Australia. The tournament was held at the Moama Bowling Club in Moama, Australia. Australian Darts Open has been added to the WDF calendar and has been awarded Platinum ranking status, with a total prize fund of A$80,000. Damon Heta who won the previous men's tournament was absent from the event, having switched to the Professional Darts Corporation in January 2020.
