Australian Bus
Sydney Bus Museum (formerly the Sydney Bus and Truck Museum) is a not-for-profit transportation museum and education centre for public benefit located in the suburb of Leichhardt, in Sydney, Australia. The museum is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of each month. The museum restores, maintains, displays and operates over 70 buses from the 1920s to 2000's. This mainly includes both single-decker and double-decker buses from NSW government operations, but also includes Double-Decker buses from Hong Kong and London as well as single decker buses from NSW private operators. It also provides buses for historical celebrations, and for film and photo shoots. Leichhardt, New South Wales
Leichhardt is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Leichhardt is located 5 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district (CBD) and is the administrative centre for the local government area (LGA) of the Inner West Council. The suburb is bordered by Haberfield to the west, Annandale to the east, Lilyfield to the north and Petersham, Lewisham and Stanmore to the south. Peter Young (judge)
Peter Wolstenholme Young (born in Sydney) is a retired Australian judge who served as a judge on the Supreme Court of New South Wales for 27 years, retiring in 2012. Career Born in Sydney, Young was educated at Sydney Church of England Grammar School before graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from the Sydney Law School at the University of Sydney. Young's family has a strong legal pedigree. His father, James Young, was admitted as a barrister in 1933; Young's grandfather, James Young Snr., was admitted as a barrister in 1903; and Young's great-grandfather, Richard Young, was admitted as a barrister in 1873. Leichhardt North MLR Station
The Inner West Light Rail is a light rail line in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, running from Central railway station through the Inner West to Dulwich Hill and serving 23 stops. It is the original line of the Sydney light rail network, and was originally known as Sydney Light Rail. Light rail services on the line are now branded as the L1 Dulwich Hill Line. Most of the Inner West Light Rail is built on the path of a former freight railway line. The first section of light rail opened in 1997, and the line was extended in 2000 and 2014. Tempe Bus Depot (formerly Tempe Tram Depot) is a bus depot in the Sydney suburb of Tempe, New South Wales, Tempe. It is currently operated by Transit Systems Sydney, Transit Systems. The depot survived the closure of Trams in Sydney, Sydney's former tram network and provided storage for the buses that replaced the trams. History Tempe Tram Depot opened on 15 September 1912 as an eighteen road depot on the corner of the Princes Highway and Gannon Street, Tempe, New South Wales, Tempe. It served the Trams in Sydney#Cooks River Line, Cooks River, Trams in Sydney#Cooks River-Dulwich Hill Line, Marrickville and Trams in Sydney#Dulwich Hill Line, Dulwich Hill lines. State Transit Authority
The State Transit Authority of New South Wales, also referred to as State Transit, was an agency of the Government of New South Wales operating bus services in Sydney. Metrobus (stylised as metrobus) is a high frequency, high capacity bus network in Sydney, Australia. Metrobus services run every 10 minutes during peak periods, 15 minutes during off-peak weekday periods, and 20 minutes on weekends, linking key commercial suburbs and centres throughout the city, with the intention of making timetables obsolete. Leichhardt Bus Depot
Leichhardt Bus Depot is a bus depot in the Sydney suburb of Leichhardt operated by Transit Systems. History Leichhardt Tram Depot was built as a twelve road depot on the corner of William Street and Derbyshire Road, Leichhardt, being available for use on 22 June 1915. It was never used as an operational tram depot, instead being used to store trams. It was converted to a bus depot in 1937. It was also the central maintenance facility until the Chullora Bus Workshops opened in 1958. The old tramshed is used as part of the new expanded Leichhardt Bus Depot while the Sydney Bus Museum occupies the northern bays after its relocation from Tempe Bus Depot. ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was a Sydney-based monthly trade magazine covering aspects of transport in Australia. Overview ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was established in July 1936 by Frank Shennen as ''Transportation''. It was renamed ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' in March 1940. It originally covered all forms of transport, but after a short while rail and tram news was withdrawn, with it focussing on the bus and truck industries. It was sold in 1986 to the Murray family. Shennen Publishing later founded ''Railway Transportation'' and ''Freight & Container Transportation'' that shared some content with ''Truck & Bus Transportation''.
