Austin Speedtour
The Mission Foods Austin Speedtour (known as the Trans-Am at COTA or Austin Speedtour or COTA Trans Am 100 or Heacock Classic from Trans-Am or The Heacock Classic) called for sponsorship reasons, is a Trans-Am Race that was held for the first time in the 2015 Trans-Am Series at Circuit of the Americas and was added as an expansion to the schedule. The race is usually held on October or November in the Trans-Am Series schedule. The race is scheduled with the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association for the weekend. The West Coast Championship race has been added along the National Championship race since 2017 making Circuit of the Americas one of the tracks to host both events on the same weekend. Circuit of the Americas provided the closest finish in Trans-Am history, it was in the 2018 TA2 race when Gar Robinson passed Misha Goikhberg at the COTA Muscle Car Challenge by .064 seconds. The Dodge Viper is a sports car that was manufactured by Dodge (by SRT for 2013 and 2014), a division of American car manufacturer FCA US LLC from 1992 until 2017, having taken a brief hiatus in 2007 and from 2010 to 2012. Production of the two-seat super car began at New Mack Assembly Plant in 1991 and moved to Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in October 1995. The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of a grand tourers produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Maserati. Tomy Drissi
Tomy Drissi ( ; born December 9, 1958) is an American professional stock and sports car racing driver, and an advertising executive in the movie industry. A long-time competitor in the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am Series, he was the series' 2009 Champion. Racing career Drissi first became involved in motorsports through his participation in illegal street racing, primarily on Mulholland Drive in Hollywood's Hollywood Hills, starting at the age of 16. He began legitimate competition in 1993, when he became involved in vintage racing, primarily at Willow Springs Raceway. Drissi's driving style proved "too aggressive" for the fragile vintage cars, and he moved to standard, modern race cars, making his debut in professional racing in 1999. Competing in the SCCA Trans-Am Series, Drissi won Rookie of the Year in his initial season. He would score his first win in the series the following year at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Thomas Merrill (racing Driver)
Thomas Merrill (born April 17, 1986) is an American racing driver who competes in the Trans-Am Series and Porsche Carrera Cup North America. Alongside Nicky Catsburg and Chandler Hull, he was the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series champion in the GT class. He also won the TA2-class title in the 2022 Trans-Am Series. Career Early career Merrill was exposed to racing at a young age, as both of his parents were racing drivers themselves, taking part in Porsche Club meetings around his hometown of Salinas, California. Merrill himself began racing at age 8, culminating in his first karting title in 1998 at the age of 11.
