Rinko Kikuchi
(born ; January 6, 1981) is a Japanese actress. She was the first Japanese actress to be nominated for an Academy Award in 50 years, for her work in ''Babel'' (2006). Kikuchi's other notable films include '' Norwegian Wood'' (2010), which screened in competition at the 67th Venice Film Festival and Guillermo del Toro's science fiction action film ''Pacific Rim'' (2013). ''A Scanner Darkly'' is a 2006 American adult animated psychological science fiction mystery drama thriller film written and directed by Richard Linklater; it is based on the 1977 novel of the same name by Philip K. Dick. The film tells the story of identity and deception in a near-future dystopia constantly under intrusive high-tech police surveillance in the midst of a drug addiction epidemic.
