A contraction is a shortened version of the spoken and written forms of a word, syllable, or word group, created by omission of internal letters and sounds. In linguistic analysis, contractions should not be confused with crasis, abbreviations and initialisms (including acronyms), with which they share some semantic and phonetic functions, though all three are connoted by the term "abbreviation" in layman’s terms. Contraction is also distinguished from morphological clipping, where beginnings and endings are omitted. Austin Albert Austin (23 November 1855 – 29 July 1925) was an Australian politician. Biography Austin was born in Winchelsea to pioneer grazier Thomas Austin and Elizabeth Phillips Harding. He came from a political family: his brother Edwin Henry Austin, cousin Sidney Austin, nephew Edward Arthur Austin and grandson Thomas Leslie Austin were all members of the Victorian Parliament. He attended Geelong Grammar School and the University of Melbourne before becoming a grazier, mostly around Elaine. On 29 August 1892 he married Winifred Cameron, with whom he had five children. He is a former baseball player who was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2012 MLB draft. He played six seasons in the minor leagues before being released. Keith John Austin Asche ( ; born 28 November 1925) is a former Administrator of the Northern Territory of Australia and was the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory. Early years, education and family Asche was born in Melbourne, the son of Eric Thomas Asche and Beryl Victoria Asche (née Woinarski). Eric was the nephew of the actor Oscar Asche. In 1926, Eric Asche (father of Austin Asche) was appointed Legal Assistant in the Crown Law Office, Department of the Government Secretary for the Territory of New Guinea. Robert Austin Armstrong (born ) is an American football coach. He currently is the defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators football team. He previously was an assistant coach for West Georgia, Louisiana, Georgia, and Southern Miss. He played college football for Huntingdon as a linebacker. Captain Robert Austin Ardill MC (1917 – 12 October 2010) was a Northern Irish unionist politician. Biography Ardill was born in Belfast and educated at Coleraine Academical Institution. He later worked as the managing director of a feedstuffs company. He served in the Royal Irish Fusiliers from 1939 to 1946, winning the Military Cross for his bravery on the Greek island of Leros and retiring as a captain. He was a prisoner of war for 18 months before being freed by Allied troops after the D-Day landings. He also served as chairman of the Irish Temperance League. After the war he became involved with the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) and was elected as a member of Larne Rural District Council.
