Aura Interactor
The Aura Interactor was a wearable force-feedback device developed by Aura Systems that monitors an audio signal and uses Aura's patented electromagnetic actuator technology to convert low frequency audio information into vibrations that can represent actions such as a punch or kick. It was compatible with the Super NES and Sega Genesis. It is the first commercially available haptic suit, released on September 5, 1994. Development Inspired by the movie theater sound system Sensurround, EOR technology developeLarry Shultz then Aura's VP of Audio and Video Technologies, fantasized about what it would be like if a person could "feel" the video game, and not just hear it. Sensurround is the brand name for a process developed by Cerwin-Vega in conjunction with Universal Studios to enhance the audio experience during film screenings, specifically for the 1974 film ''Earthquake''. The process was intended for subsequent use and was adopted for four more films, '' Midway'' (1976), ''Rollercoaster'' (1977), the theatrical version of ''Saga of a Star World'' (1978), the '' Battlestar Galactica'' pilot, as well as the compilation film '' Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack'' (1979).
