Don Augusto Torlonia, of the House of Torlonia, was an Italian nobleman and third Prince of Civitella-Cesi. Augusto inherited the title from his grandfather's younger brother, Alessandro Torlonia, 2nd Prince of Civitella-Cesi. Augusto was born in Rome on 20 January 1855 and died in Borgo San Donnino on 17 April 1926. His father was Giulio, 2nd Duke of Poli and Guadagolo, and his mother was Donna Teresa dei Principi Chigi-Albani. The House of Torlonia is the name of an Italian princely family from Rome, which acquired a huge fortune in the 18th and 19th centuries through administering the finances of the Vatican. The first influential member of the Torlonia family was Marino Torlonia (Tourlonias; 1725 – 21 March 1785), who rose from humble origins in the Auvergne region of France to become a very rich businessman and banker in Rome. Marino was born with the French name of Marin Torlonias, the son of Antoine Torlonias, a merchant and laborer. Marin's great-uncle was the parish priest of Augerolles, who procured for him a position as aide to an influential abbot. Marin eventually settled in Rome, where he became a cloth merchant and money lender near the Piazza of the Trinità dei Monti. Prince of Civitella-Cesi is an Italian title of nobility granted to Giovanni Torlonia (1755–1829) of the Torlonia family. In exchange for the administration of finances of the Holy See with the blessing of the Pope, Giovanni Torlonia was created in 1794 Duke of Bracciano and Count of Pisciarelli; in 1803 Marquis of Romavecchia and Turrita; and 1st Prince of Civitella Cesi ( Princeps Romanus); in 1809 he was created a Roman Patrician (with Papal confirmation of that honor on January 19, 1813) and in 1820 became Duke of Poli and Guadagnolo, with other titles. Prince ''Don'' Alessandro Raffaele Torlonia, Prince of Fucino, Prince of Civitella-Cesi, Duke of Ceri (January 1, 1800 – February 7, 1886) was an Italian nobleman of the House of Torlonia, titled Duca di Ceri, Prince di Fucino. He was the son of Giovanni Torlonia, 1st Prince di Civitella-Cesi (1754-1829). Life Born January 1, 1800, his father was Giovanni Torlonia, 1st Prince of Civitella-Cesi, and his mother Anna Maria Chiaveri née Schulteiss, a widow who came from a family of southern German merchants from the city of Donaueschingen. In 1829, Alessandro Torlonia inherited a vast fortune from his father. This came mainly from banking. Fidenza (Parmigiano: ; locally ) is a town and ''comune ''in the province of Parma, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. It has around 27,000 inhabitants. The town was renamed Fidenza in 1927, recalling its Roman name of ''Fidentia''; before, it was called Borgo San Donnino (Parmigiano: ).
