Augusto Inácio
Augusto Soares Inácio (born 30 January 1955) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a left back, and a manager. Having represented both Sporting and Porto as a professional player, he went on to have a lengthy managerial career that would last more than 30 years in eight countries including his own (in this capacity, he also worked with both clubs). A Portugal international for one full decade, Inácio represented the country at the 1986 World Cup. Playing career Born in Lisbon, Inácio started playing for Sporting CP, signing at the age of 27 for FC Porto and winning several Primeira Liga championships and domestic cups with both clubs. With the latter, he started in both European competition finals played in the 80s, the 1–2 against Juventus F.C. in the 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup and the 1986–87 European Cup, won at the expense of FC Bayern Munich. The European zone was allocated 9.5 places (out of 16) in the final tournament. 1978 FIFA World Cup
The 1978 FIFA World Cup was the 11th edition of the FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football world championship tournament among the men's senior national teams. It was held in Argentina between 1 and 25 June. The Cup was won by the host nation, Argentina, who defeated the Netherlands 3–1 in the final, after extra time. The final was held at River Plate's home stadium, Estadio Monumental, in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires. This win was the first World Cup title for Argentina, who became the fifth team (after Uruguay, Italy, England, and West Germany) to be both hosts and world champions and the third South American team to win a World Cup. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. 1983–84 European Cup Winners' Cup
The 1983–84 season of the European Cup Winners' Cup was won by Juventus in a final against Porto. The Taça de Portugal (; "Cup of Portugal") is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Placard since the 2015–16 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions.
