Audiovisual Archive Of The Democratic And Labour Movement
The Foundation audiovisual archive of the labor and democratic movement (AAMOD) is a foundation born in Italy in the late 1970s with the aim of researching, collecting, storing historical audiovisual documents, repertory, current affairs and narrative reconstruction. It works in the field of audiovisuals (cinema, TV, multimedia) to promote the construction of a collective memory of social movements and their protagonists. The foundation organizes research activities and sets up exhibitions on topics related to history and society, curating specialized publications. Its headquarters are in Rome. The first president of the Foundation was Cesare Zavattini who held this role until his death in 1989. Repertory Theatre
A repertory theatre is a theatre in which a resident company presents works from a specified repertoire, usually in alternation or rotation. United Kingdom Annie Horniman founded the first modern repertory theatre in Manchester after withdrawing her support from the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. Horniman's Gaiety Theatre, Manchester, Gaiety Theatre opened its first season in September of 1908. The opening of the Gaiety was followed by the Citizens' Theatre in Glasgow and the Liverpool Repertory Theatre. Previously, regional theatre relied on mostly London touring ensembles. During the time the theatre was being run by Annie Horniman, a wide variety of types of plays were produced. Collective Memory
Collective memory refers to the shared pool of memories, knowledge and information of a social group that is significantly associated with the group's identity. The English phrase "collective memory" and the equivalent French phrase "la mémoire collective" appeared in the second half of the nineteenth century. The philosopher and sociologist Maurice Halbwachs analyzed and advanced the concept of the collective memory in the book ''Les cadres sociaux de la mémoire'' (1925). Collective memory can be constructed, shared, and passed on by large and small social groups. Examples of these groups can include nations, generations, communities, among others. Cesare Zavattini
Cesare Zavattini (20 September 1902 – 13 October 1989) was an Italian screenwriter and one of the first theorists and proponents of the Neorealist movement in Italian cinema. Biography Born in Luzzara near Reggio Emilia in northern Italy, on 20 September 1902, Zavattini studied law at the University of Parma, but devoted himself to writing. He started his career in ''Gazzetta di Parma''. In 1930 he relocated to Milan, and worked for the book and magazine publisher Angelo Rizzoli. After Rizzoli began producing films in 1934, Zavattini received his first screenplay and story credits in 1936. At the same time he was writing the plot for the comic strip ''Saturn against the Earth'' with Federico Pedrocchi (script) and Giovanni Scolari (art) for ''I tre porcellini'' (1936–1937) and ''Topolino'' (1937–1946).
