Au (Sieg)
Windeck is a municipality in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Sieg, approx. 35 km east of Bonn and 35 km west of Siegen. Many think the municipality is named after the ruined castle of Windeck but in fact the first place to hold the name was the village of Windeck which is now called "Old Windeck". Around that village other villages were founded and so Windeck now has about 20,000 inhabitants. Rhein-Sieg
The Rhein-Sieg-Kreis ( ksh, Rhein-Siech-Kreis) is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Neighboring districts are Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Oberbergischer Kreis, Altenkirchen, Neuwied, Ahrweiler, Euskirchen, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, the urban district of Cologne. The federal city of Bonn is nearly completely surrounded by the district. History The district as known today was created in 1969, during the reorganization of the districts in North Rhine-Westphalia, by merging Sieg District with the District of Bonn (from which Bonn itself was separated in 1887 to become an urban district). Sieg
The Sieg is a river in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Rhine. The river is named after the Sicambri. It is in length. The source is located in the Rothaargebirge mountains. From here the river runs southwestwards to the city of Siegen and the hills of Siegerland, both named after the river. Further west the Sieg valley forms the boundary of the Bergisches Land (northern) and Westerwald (southern). The river finally runs through a protected area east of the city of Bonn. After passing the cities of Hennef and Siegburg, the river flows into the Rhine at the ''Naturschutzgebiet Siegaue'', a protected area immediately to the northeast of the city of Bonn, near Niederkassel/. Opperzau
Opperzau is a community of the German municipality Windeck, in the Rhein-Sieg district, in the south-eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia. The southern part of Opperzau is named Oppertsau'','' which belongs to the municipality Fürthen and belongs to Rhineland-Palatinate. It is located at the middle of the Sieg river. History In 1604, the ''settlement of Siegburg (Siegburger Vergleich)'' clarified the limit of the current federal states North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate which leads through the village and parted them into ''Opperzau'' (northern part) and ''Oppertsau'' (southern part). The reason for this was a dispute of a territorial sovereignty that started in 1294, when the County of Sayn-Wittgenstein and other small counties claimed possession over parts of Berg and the Sieg districts. Renan Demirkan
Renan Demirkan (born 12 June 1955) is a German writer and actress. In 2016, she initiated the call "checkpoint:demokratie", which became a registered association in May 2017 and of which she is the chairman of the board. Hanns Dieter Hüsch
Hanns Dieter Hüsch (6 May 1925, in Moers – 6 December 2005, in Windeck-Werfen) was a German people, German author, cabaret artist, actor, songwriter and radio commentator. With a working life of more than 53 years on the German cabaret stage and 70 of his own programmes he was one of the most productive and successful representatives of literary cabaret in Germany in the 20th century. Life and work Hüsch grew up in the Lower Rhine region, Niederrhein-Area near the Netherlands and had to suffer of 'pes adductus' until he was 11 years old. Because he could not play with other children, he became a loner and began to write. When he was 22, Hüsch began to study in Mainz, "but I did not study, I wrote cabaret pieces". Peter Praet (born 20 January 1949 in Herchen near Eitorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Allied-occupied Germany) is a Belgian economist who served as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 2011 to 2019 and concurrently as ECB chief economist following his 2012 appointment.
